Recommended Posts

on the forum, it is really not recommended to ship anything down to the resort...i know...i also tried to ship some items for my OOT bags and they never made it...it happens often.

...BUT if you insist on shipping items their are broekrs that can assist you. the resort wedding coordinator gave us the name of a company that works in cabo but i do not know of one in cancun...

Has anyone shipped to Mexico successfully? I'm planning on shipping my OOT bag contents and Centerpiece contents down there and this makes me soooooo nervous.
To tell you the truth, I've only heard bad things about shipping to Mexico unfortunately! I'm not taking the chance! I would be sick to my stomach if I shipped things down there and something like this happened! I think it is worth "checking" another suitcase and possibly cheaper. Check with your airlines to see what it would cost to bring an extra suitcase. It might save you trouble and will be stress free!

Thanks for sharing your story, it really helps us brides know the "what if's" and how we can learn from this. Good Luck with the rest of your planning!

My WC actually told me that every FedEx or DHL package coming into Mexico will be opened at custom..even if it is just an envelope.
The good thing my WC found eveything I wanted locally or in Mexico city and it was actually cheaper
Yeah, but I was told as long as you have receipts then you are okay. Just pack it in your carry on luggage. Think about it, mostly EVERYTHING is MADE IN CHINA... ha-ha! I live in China and I have barely bought anything in the U.S. hee-hee

Good Luck girls!

Yes, I think it would be a good idea to remove the "Made in China" sticker just to be safe! I think the main thing the customs dept. in Mexico is worried about is if they think you will resell all of your items. So just make sure to explain to them you are getting married and these are your gifts for your guests.

Good Luck!

What a terrible story! SO SORRY this happened and thanks for being positive and sharing the story.

I always thought to WCs were saying not to ship because they didn't want to be responsible for the contents but now I know there is much more to it....

Sorry again! Did you at least have insurance on the shipment??

Wow, that is so horrible. I'm sorry to hear about the lost stuff. I was thinking about shipping my OOT bags down, but now I'm going to bring them with me in my luggage. Plus, the shipping costs are outrageous!

My wedding coordinator told me to just make sure to rip off any labels or tags that say "Made in China". I ordered a bunch of paper lanterns that I am carrying down with me and they are made in China. So I'm just going to take them out of their packaging before bringing them down with me. Just to be on the safe side.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
