Newbie - Help me with a venue/location

Chill Bride

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I got engaged about a month ago and have been dreaming about my destination wedding on a beautiful tropical beach for years. Anyone interested in sharing a suggestion for a place to get married that has the following elements:

1. Ceremony on beach or with clear beach view

2. No resorts, looking for something unique

3. Close -ish to west coast. Looking at Hawaii and Tulum, Mexico mainly.

4. Lots of dancing late into the night

5. Private location

6. Maybe a house or hotel, the whole party can rent out.

7. Will have 30-50 guests, probably closer to 30.

8. Keep the drinks flowing

We are basically looking for something unique and not too commercial where our whole party can drink and dance the night away either on the beach or at a restaurant right on it. Ceremony would be on the beach with not too many people around. I have been to Negril, Jamaica; Barbados; and St. Martin. Something like the beauty and chillness of the independent hotels in Negril would be perfect.

Hi, welcome to the forum!! I am getting married at a remote location called Las Villas Akumal in Akumal, Mexico. Sascha Gluck (posted above) will actually be our photographer! Akumal, Mexico is the perfect little secluded town on the coast, just north of Tulum. Any Akumal bride will tell you how absolutely stunning it is!

Good luck with all the planning!

I was married in Tulum and now coordinate weddings from Akumal to Tulum. The only place large enough to host 50 guests on the beach is Mil Amores. It's very private since it's right next to the preserve. It is great since it is two mansions that have been converted into a hotel. They have a total of 22 rooms, some of them are multi-bedrooms suites. You could rent one or both of the houses out depending on how many guests you have. You would need to get a permit to have an all night party in Tulum, but it is possible.

You might also look into Anguila, just off of St. Maarten. They have absolutely stunning beaches and loads of private homes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
