Hello people,

Thanks for allowing me to be part of the destination bride forum. I have heard good things about this forum so I am looking forward to learning from all of you.

Here is some info about me:

  • My name is Lori Chambers and my partner in crime is Stuart Monkhouse. We have been together for 10 years and living together for 5 years, but have finally decided to commit to the institution.
  • Our tentative wedding date is May 17, 2011
  • We plan to be married in Princeville, Kauai, Hawaii

What I hope to get from this forum: a lot of ideas, a great deal of like minded info sharing, and hopefully some emotional support. This wedding has been an emotional time for both of us so to share the experience with like-minded individuals is great.

Thanks Lori

Hey Julie,

Nice to meet another bride with a long engagement. May I ask if you have started wedding planning yet? We find that most of the vendors in Hawaii has recommended that we wait until Spring 2010 to contact them. I wondered if you had the same experience.

Thanks Lori

Hi Lori,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations. You will find a ton of useful information here. Even if you don't contact your vendors right away, I definitely think you should start thinking about what you envision your day to be and you'll find lots of ideas here on smaller things such as invitations, save the dates, etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
