Can I get married on my date???

Hey guys I need a bit of help. My fiance and I have finally set a date for our wedding (FINALLY), but now I am abit worried if we CAN get married on the date we want. We want to get married on October 10th, 2010 (10.10.10) but it's a Sunday. I know when we had looked into afew different destinations that was a problem because you couldn't get married on a Sunday. I have looked all over the place and I can't find any info regarding this so I am HOPING there are no laws in Cuba saying you can't get married on a Sunday, but I want to make sure. I thought here would be the BEST place to find out..If anyone could help me out with this that would be great!

Hey, I am not 100% sure - but I don't think our resort would do legal weddings on Sunday, perhaps you could do a symbolic ceremony though and do the legal stuff at home. Also, most of the trips are a week long and will be arriving on Sat or Sunday...you're supposed to be there for 3 days before you get married (legally, I have heard of some brides doing it in less time but it could be really hard to arrange). I think that's a pretty sweet wedding date...but are you 100% that it must be that day? If so, you might be able to make it work, some of the tour providers leave on Mondays...might be able to swing it! Good luck :), have you decided on a location in Cuba yet?

Being there for afew days before the wedding isn't a concern for me..I plan on being there for awhile...just that date is really important to my fiance. Like its so important that if we can't legally get married on that date while in Cuba, then he wants to do a symbolic ceremony or vow renewal on that date and get married before we leave or something. We haven't finalized on a resort yet but I was just wondering about the laws for Cuba itself because I know when we looked into Jamaica, legally you couldn't get married on a sunday.

We were told that the notary in Cuba perform weddings from Monday-Friday, but you can request to have them work on the weekends for an additional fee of $150. There is no guarantee that they'll accept your request, but its an option. Contact melissa@solmeliacuba.ca she'll know all the details. She's the girl who books all the weddings at the Melia/Paradisus resorts in Cuba. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
