Wedding with just the 2 of us...but how/where??

Hi!

My fiance and I were all set for our destination wedding in Mexico, but when it came time to collect everyone's room deposit, no one was ready to pay...even though at that point they had already 1 years advance notice.

Needless to say, we had to forgo our Mexico wedding plans. So, for the past 4 months or so, we've been trying to decide what we want and can afford to do. One of the reasons we wanted a destination wedding was because we can't afford to have a wedding at home due to the # of people that we'd HAVE to invite...with dates would come to over 200 (our budget is about $5,000). Not only can we not afford a wedding of that size, but I have never wanted a big wedding!! I thought if we went away, it'd be laid back, intimate, etc.

So, in the past month, we have been seriously considering going away just the 2 of us...we're thinking of Hawaii - Kihei area. Does anyone have any info - good/bad about this area?

Also, I can't seem to find where we can marry if it's just the 2 of us. All of the packages I've seen online include things that we will not need since they seem to be geared toward groups.

Is anyone else getting married just the 2 of you or know of anyone who has done that in Hawaii? We are also open to other places (but not Vegas) where we could go too that would be beautiful and not as much of a pain as Mexico.

Thanks SO much!!

;o)

We are getting married in HI in Feb. It will be just the two of us. I found a planner that does a package with pics and minister for $495. I wanted to make sure we had nice pics since it will be just us. We arrive on the 9th and get married on the 11th. We are staying for 10 days so it will be nice to honeymoon and relax after the wedding. We plan to have a small reception when we return to appease the family.

I haven't looked into much info about Hawaii since it's not my destination, but I would think that there should be options where witnesses can be provided if you are not traveling with a group. Most places I looked into had this as an option.

I hope you find exactly what you are looking for. It's too bad that you had to forego your original plans, but I am sure it will all still work out, be beautiful and most important, you'll be happily married!

We're getting married in February (just the two of us) on Maui and booked our wedding package through Precious Maui Weddings. Deanne has been fabulous to work with and very responsive to all the questions I've posed thus far. There are a variety of packages available with all different price ranges. I've found PMW to be more reasonable pricewise than many of the other planners out there. Good luck and happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
