I am getting married next month and I have so many things to take with me. Did anyone send it ahead of time to the resort? Which carrier did you use? I have no idea if i can take all of this stuff on the plane with me to RM, MX. What did you ladies do?

My hubby and I hauled everything down to Jamaica in two large suitcases (that weighed in at 49.9 lbs each!). We were told by our wedding coordinator not to ship anything because we would have to pay a tax on everything plus the resort would charge a "storage fee." Despite having all sorts of snacks, toys etc. stashed in our bags, we never had an issue at customs... just told them we were getting married and they waved us through.

I would highly recommend enlisting the help of a few close family and friends to transport stuff down (my mom brought down all of our candles, decorations; brothers and their gfs brought flip flop favors, golf balls, real touch flowers etc). Most airlines allow two bags per person on international flights, I'm sure there are plenty of people in your group that will only have a small suitcase or bag of their own.

Yeah we're allowed 100lbs each person and from our household there will b FI and I and our two kids so that is 400lbs so I think we're ok... I don't plan on bring Rita McNeil in my luggage to sing for us.

Artificial flowers used in bouquets that look and feel real... a lot of DW brides use them to save money and have more control over the design, since islands generally have a limited selection of flowers available (unless you want to pay to import them). Here is a link to the vendor I used so you can get an idea as to what they look like http://www.sharonnagassardesigns.com/

I have a HUGE duffle bag that I've had since my college days. I plan to fill that with as much as possible and just check it. It's made of a soft nylon so when it's empty, I can just fold it up and bring it back in one of our suitcases.

Mrs. R -- We're twins! I'm also getting married at RHR and using Sharon for my flowers. Which collection did you choose and how did they turn out?
