second guess your dress?

Recommended Posts

I bought my dress 2 days after I booked my wedding, over a year before the wedding - I put it on and cried because I knew it was MY dress, even though I'd only tried on maybe 8. After being on BDW for the past 8 months I have seen so many beautiful dresses, but when I tried mine on again last month, I cried again...it's the right dress for me.

I can def relate. I just bought my second dress and sold my first dress. I think the first time a bride goes shopping she is overwhelmed. Everything looks so pretty and itâ€s such a special moment..you are so happy, excited, adrenaline running. I picked up my first dress last week and when I saw it again I said wow it is beautiful and I could have totally lived with it and been happy. Also, its hard to compare the dresses on other brides..everyone has different body types and what looks good on some doesn't on all. Your dress sounds lovely...and you have to go by how you feel in it..never mind what other brides are for or against!

We all do go through this I think.... it doesn't help out when someone posts pics from the resort that you are getting married at and they look amazing in a dress with that backdrop! You picked it for a reason because you stopped and said oh my gosh...its this one.... I LOVE IT! Go and try it on again and I am sure that feeling will come back!

Did you like it as much as you did the first day?

Yes I still love my dress! I remembered that I picked it because I felt and looked amazing in it (Yay corsets for making me 3 sizes smaller! hehe) I think I sometimes wonder about it, because its not the popular-strapless-beaded gown or flowy grecian gowns most brides these days are picking, but those just didn't look good on me. I love mine because the rucching is very flattering, and its very classic. My brother came with me and took picks of me in it, I'll post them soon!! And They had my flower in stock, so I got to take it home! YAY!!!

Well I can definitely relate. My dress came in this week so I went to try it on on Saturday... I still love it, but my initial reaction when I saw it again for the first time after buying it 5 months ago was... that's it? It always looks different from the sample because it's in your size.. or in my case it's waaaay too big up top... but I am sure once alterations are done and I add some bling via jewellery I'll love it more. It just seemed really plain.

I would say the whole process is very anti-climactic.

Now I am looking at a $220 Swarovski crystal necklace...

I agree, I think we all get that feeling at some point. Considering my original date was this Sat, I've had my dress for over a year. About 2 months ago I got that " did I make a mistake" feeling when I saw a new Maggie dress in an ad. It was everything I had originally wanted but couldn't find at that time. I went as far as to contact the dress shop which still had my dress about ordering in a loaner so I could try on the Maggie dress and compare with mine. They were willing but before I/we went through the trouble I thought I should try mine on again. Low and behold once I put on my original dress I got the Teary eyes and the "this is it" feeling all over again. It helped that my BM's, who are painfully honest, were with me and both stated they liked this dress better than the dress in the ad. I guess I should have trusted my instincts. :)

It is a good to know that many have doubts... I found my dream dress in Kleinfelds maybe about a month and half ago and well it was just to pricey. (my mom said she would buy my dress so I never budgeted it in my budget and well long story short it would make things very difficicult for me to purchase it) So I purchased I guess the second best in September ... The only sucky part is that I cant stop thinking about the dress I fell in love with the one that made me feel sexy and beautiful... It was so simple and elegant and made me feel like, unexplainable... I am not even that excited or excited at all for the dress to come in December... It just sucks.... womp womp but life does go on and hopefuly everything else comes out good....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
