Is there any posts here (that I haven't found) with creative wording on the STD do at least get a tentative number for planning purposes? Surely, there's got to be something. It's frustrating to spend so much time and energy on the STD's and RSVP's for them not to be valued by the people that get them.

The only thing I think you can do is just make it as easy and convenient for them to rsvp (i.e. pre-paid postage, tick boxes, use your TA, tentative poll on a wedding website). No matter what though, you will still get people who will not RSVP. I think unless you had to plan something that was REALLY that time sensitive, it is okay for someone to rsvp up to a couple of months before -- and, if I am honest, the only realistic number you are going to get is around that time; the tentative 'yes' rsvp a year+ in advance may not hold to the end.

Wholly crap, my wedding is May 1st and I haven't even sent out my invites yet. I did send out the STD and have received a lot of verbal responses but until thier booked I ain't counting them. You should try to get an idea from your guests if they will be attending or not. The last thing you want to do is wait till the last minute to start buying all of your things.

UGH I totally hear you!! We are two months out and requested RSVPS to be in by this Monday...yea we still have 80 guest unaccounted for (ie NO RSVP...email...phone call ZILCH)!! I finally decided...if you don't RSVP by the RSVP date and I run out of "extras" for OOT bags and what not you just don't get one. (You may not even get dinner if I've already got everything sorted out and you "decide to come") I mean really how hard is it to drop in a pre-addressed and stamped card IN THE MAIL!! Maybe it's bitchy but I really don't need the added stress right now.

Hang in there

Wow, that's unbelievable!! People really wait until the last minute to book and RSVP. It's true that it's a little hard to know far out if you can go to a DW but TWO months before, they should be able to give you an answer.

I plan to have my RSVP's due 2.5 months before the wedding so I can use one month to get to the "stragglers"... I've decided that my mom and FMIL will help with this project. Then I'll have a little over one month to buy OOt bags and favors.

The RSVP thing totally annoys me also!!!! That's why the dam date is there!!!!!!!!! Just make up your freakin mind and put it back in the mail! I don't get it. My bridal shower was last Sunday at my parent's house and some of the guests called my mom the day before (said they forgot all about it!)...mind you, they rented tables and chairs! We have our RSVP for the wedding mid November (only 7 weeks from Jan 8th)...but that's also because we included an RSVP for our AHR too! Hoping everyone cooperates this time around. You still have time though...don't stress too much! Everything comes together in the end :)

Wow, I totally understand what you're going through. I think every bride here is or was in the same situation.

My vent: I have people who told me they couldn't go when I sent out the STD's and I still sent them the invites (out of respect mostly). Those people have NOT responded to tell me what they already decided!!! It would be great if they were able to come, but c'mon, I put return postage on the RSVP people!!! We leave in 3 months & 4 days!! UGH!!! BangHead.gif

P.S. - I love the title of this thread!! There should be a general WTF thread for crazy things that don't make sense (if there isn't one already).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
