Getting Married @ The Royal, Cancun

Recommended Posts

So exciting to find more Royal Cancun brides-I am so close to booking this resort, but was hesitant since I couldn't find many people getting married there. I hope to book there this week so I can move on to the next step of planning. We are just having a symbolic ceremony for just the two of us-I can't wait!

Does anyone know where the rooftop terrace and villas terrace are on the Gran Caribe side? We're trying to pick a cocktail hour site. If one of the terraces is on the Royal side, it wouldn't be too far to walk, but if they're way up by the main building or something, I don't want to do that.

CALLAMONSTER

Both terraces are on the gran side. The rooftop terrace is above albetros restuarants (thats where my reception will be) and the Villas terrace, I am not 100% positive, but close too it, I belive Denise showed us this as well on our site inspection, and this is facing the ocean, the rootop terrace has a view of both the lagoon and ocean, however the only thing we didnt love about the "villas terrace" was the fact that there were people sitting out on their balconies, and they can clearly be visible, although not unattractive, I prefer to have no onlookers.

Hope that helps.

Oh also, the rooftop terrace has a green felty floor, almost like at the mini golf places, and the villa area was concrete.

thank you, stevensFiance!! we looked at some other pictures that Julie sent yesterday and we're now trying to move from the royal gazebo to the gran caribe gazebo so that we can have the cocktail hour at the area just outside of the gazebo. it seems like that would be the easiest solution since no one will have to move far :)

We are having a beach wedding at the Gran & were planning to have the reception on the beach as well. After more thought, we are going to move the reception to the rooftop terrace (above the restaurant). I think it will be a nice escape from the sand :)

PS Thanks for the info on the differences between the 2 terrace locations. I would prefer a more private area as well.

Anytime! we were originally booked at the gazebo on the royal side, but after seeing that you can do the cocktail hour right behind the gazebo on the gran side, we made the decision to change. Also the stair case leading upto the rooftop terrace, is really pretty, and Denise told me they put pillar candles on both sides going up the steps, I think its going to be such a beautiful detail. I know that sounds odd, to think of the staircase, but its all white stoney material, really pretty.

Ivan, thanks for the link. I am still working on our song list.

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
