i know how u two are feeling... my DHs father and step mom chose not to come.. and after everything was said and done.. we still had a beautiful day .. and they felt like goofs when everything was said and done.. he will never get that chance back to be at his sons wedding and it was not going to ruin our day!.. so try to be positive.. and think of it this way.. if the people that care about u the most take their time to go to ur wedding.. then those are the people u will be able to count on for the rest of ur lives/marriage! IMO

Yes, it's a shame that they're not coming, but don't let them get the best of you. Your FI loves you very much and that's the most important thing. You'll have a wonderful time/wedding no matter who is there and for now on, his family will see that it just didn't matter if they were there or not.

I would feel sad & mad. When we decided on destination wedding, as long as our parents and brothers could make it, then we would be happy. I would be heart broken if his parents wouldn't come, ESPECIALLY seeing as they travel all the time.

I have cousins who travel all the time to the caribbean for sailing, but they don't want to spend their money to come to Punta Cana. So this has made me feel like she really doesn't care about me, and it hurts. I can only imagine how you feel about it being his mom. I would feel like she didn't care about me. But deep down, you know that's not true. She does love you, but maybe she's just too self absorbed and would rather spend her money on other things. To me it's sad, but obviously she doesnt' see anything wrong with it.

Just remember, this is who she is. The future will be full of other stupid annoying things that she will do. We just have to learn to push it aside and not let it get to us too much. We need to focus on ourselves. Good luck!

We're having the same problem.... People who when we suggested the idea were really excited... then after going through with all the plans, booking the photographer, date, resort etc have said they can't afford it. I have no bridesmaids/maid of honor. (Right now my little brothers are filling the spots).

It's especially frustrating for me since one of my cousins just got married. We had to fly across the country to go (which we did, never once mentioning the over $1200 in costs for us while I didn't have a job. Plus I had to pay for my BM dress). And now she won't come to mine because her and her new husband want to save for a house! Everyone our age wants to save for a house.... They also refused to register because they wanted everyone to just give them money.

SOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
