One stress after another....

Well I guess every bride needs to vent and keeping this all inside is driving me nuts... Well recently everything for my wedding has been going smoothly but as people say it is always quietest before the storm...lol

First I have been working with a TA for all my guests accommodations to Dreams Cancun (wedding may 8 2010) and everything has been going smoothly. I told her to hold 30 rooms and she confirmed and she stated kids 12 and under are free.... Well now she is telling us that the hotel is booked and we only have 5 ROOMS!!! When I booked 30 Rooms which are suppose to be on hold until NOVEMBER 5th.... I def know that my guests have not booked the 30 rooms yet.... The best part is my 2 sister and brother still have not booked the room and well lets just say they donâ€t have the money yet ... Which is only 150 each to hold the room and the full payment is do until marchcensored.gif.... (FYI they have know since early June) sad.gif.... I am just hoping that this will get all figured out.....

And secondly this is small but has been bothering me too... I only have 2females in my bridal party. They are my 2 older sisters, we have like 8 years apart.... Well they both knew I was getting engaged before I did and were the first to know about the wedding date and etc... Now that it is time to purchase the dresses and choose my wedding colors they procrastinate.... They are coming up with every freaking excuse humanely possible when I say hey guys can we look for your dresses... We still haven't even started looking.... I even told them I'll purchase the dress donâ€t worry about it... buttttt nooooo its in one ear and out the other.... I want to get things done but its just not working....

Thanks for listening/reading this really did help.... :)

Good luck to all you brides xoxo

Wow that's never a good thing to hear that there are only 5 rooms left in the hotel when you were supposed to have 30 already blocked. I hope your TA is able to help sort all of this out and get everyone's rooms booked without any trouble from the resort. I'm also sorry to hear about your sister's procrastinating from getting their dresses. Maybe you should print out some ideas and show them and maybe it will inspire them to go shopping. I hope everything works out for you!

Oh- that really and truly is stressful. I hope your TA can work it out- who ever said that destination weddings were stress free must have been joking! Or just never planned one themselves.

As for the bridesmaids dresses, I think that it may be time to (politely) light a fire under your girls butts. If they want to order something it could take 4-6 months, and then they may need alterations. You need to make them aware of this if they aren't already, and maybe try taking matters into your own hands and just schedule a day and time to get it done. If they aren't that keen on dress shopping (which is kinda sad, but not everyone is into it) maybe start using the phrase "lets get it over with" or something like that- basically let them know that you know it's a chore for them (guilt, guilt) but the sooner it's over, the sooner it's done?

Good luck with everything, keep us posted.

I hope you get everything worked out, that seems strange that the resort would already be booked up that far out? Seems like a mistake, hopefully it is.

Lots of us have procratinating bridal parties, for various reasons. Just breath and try and keep the mindset that only you and your FI matter. Whoever else comes is a bonus and if they procrastinate till the last minute there is nothing you can do about that.

I'm a control freak so this is difficult for me! lol

Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about all the stress!! I can't believe that there are truly only 5 rooms. There has to be a mistake somehow! Is there a way for you to find out from you TA exactly who has and hasn't booked?

As for bridesmaids, it's there loss if they don't help pick a style that is well suited for them. They're the ones who are going to have to wear it!!!

That truly sucks. Hope this is a big mistake, and it's not really only 5 rooms available. It really just seems weird.

As for the dresses, understandable. I only have a MOH, and she only just found her dress last week and still needs to get it altered. We live in different provinces, and I told her to find a dress that fits her and that she liked, but it had to be turquoise, and I would send the money for it. For months she was no rush no worries, it'll be easy for her to find something... then she starts freaking because she couldn't find anything with weeks left. Hopefully the alterations go well...

Just an FYI, have your TA look through other travel companies. If you are booking through Apple or Go-Go, there might be another that still has rooms. Like Travel Impressions.

It's just like with airfare. These companies 'hold' a bunch of rooms, and then sell them at the discounted rate. (it's always cheaper than booking straight through the hotel) have her/him check.

My sister is our TA and that's her advice. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
