Welcome the forum. I think the first place for you to start, is by defining your priorities. Do you have a price point? A specific scene in mind? What do you want you and your guest to experience? Look through some of the reviews and make a list of what you like, not just which resorts or hotels you like, but what you like about them.

Let us know what you find! Good luck.

Hey! Congrats!!! I was in the same boat as you guys and am still trying to make my final decision on a resort. Everyone on here gave me this advice: Make a list of your "must haves." Then, start researching resorts that meet those qualifications. Once you have a list, you can do more research on this website to see how brides liked the resort, wedding coordinators, etc. Also, a travel agent will be a big help! Ask tons of questions on here and you will get some fabulous ideas! GOOD LUCK!!!! Keep us posted!

I agree with many of the other comments. I am planning a May 2011 wedding in Playa del Carmen and felt the same way when I first started...where do I begin!??! You need to find the thing that is most important to you and go from there. For me it was the church. We are having a catholic wedding and I wanted a beautiful catholic church. Once I found that, then we were able to begin looking for hotels that were going to be great, yet close to the church since we didn't want to have to transport people back and forth.

Once you kinda figure out your priorities, things definitely begin to fall into place!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
