Wow! Thanks Samantha! I didn't know about the additional cost for food...We received the $20/pp quote as well. I better look into that...we had assumed all of our guests would stay at H3R but now some are mentioning they may not be able to afford to stay there :(

I'm not sure what your plated prices were but mine are $20/pp for a 3 course meal etc. and if I were to have guests staying off resort it would go up to $70-80/pp not including the day pass. I hope that helps a little :)

I'm not sure what your quoted rate is but if you or any other your family members are owners at either H3R or any of the Sunset resorts there are even lower rates. Ours is 120/per person per night, which I think is an awesome deal being that the rate to stay there if a person were to book through their website is closer to 360/per night.

theres a lot of great info in this thread!! we're looking at this resort either as just a base for everyone to stay (with outside venue for reception and ceremony) or possibly for the wedding itself.

I was starting to lean towards havign everything at one hotel...but after seeing a wedding at sandos caracol with hoards of sunbathers surrounding the ceremony and one drunk guy shouting ugly things at the couple, im really nervous about having it on a public beach. its much cheaper to do it at a hotel though and h3r has great reviews. so i feel completely stuck and unable to make any decisions!!

We are hoping to see if they have dates available in february/march next year! i was in cancun this weekend and its my perfect temperature - not too hot and not too warm!

from what i gather, the reception dinner can be private...its only the ceremony that would have people around? i feel like all the dates are going and i need to book my wedding asap! and the little ticking clock i have in my head is really not helping my stress levels

I understand the ticking clock!! As for the privacy of the ceremony all of the pictures I have seen from past brides and the research I did didn't show many resort guests around the ceremony. If you have your ceremony at the point where the river meets the ocean there isn't really much space for resort guests to be sunbathing in your way! :) Also, depending on the time of your ceremony resort guests may be done with the beach for the day.

We are having our private reception near the pool so we can also be by the ocean. We considered having the reception also on the beach but due to the proximity to bathrooms and a few other nit-picky considerations we thought the pool would be best. My only concern is with the noise coming from the welcome party since we are getting married on a Sunday. The wedding coordinator Allibe has told me many times it will not be a problem.

Hey can anyone send me their timeline at amiers33@hotmail.com ?  I am trying to start mine and did not realize how difficult it would be.  I'm getting married really SOON 3/30/12.  I dont check that email often so just let me know you sent it.  After my wedding I will happily post pics and suggestions, just now is a super crazy time (as you can imagine). We are having mediamorphsis as videographers and Samuel Luna as our photographer (recently featured in a Bridal Mag) so I'm sure you will have excellent video and photo examples to see soon enough :)

I'm very excited for the wedding!  We have 90 people total and only 12 are staying outside of the resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
