Hacienda Tres Rios Brides Post Here!

Hmm I also thought I read somewhere that a cake for a certain number of people was included and then anything beyond that was extra. Now I'm wondering if I read that during the resort search or if I really did get it from H3R.

Those prices for the lanterns are much better!! Thanks for her contact info!

I didn't realize there was a charge for the delivery of the bags...that makes me think I might meet everyone in the lobby upon their arrival. We got out bags from the dollar tree (khaki totes with colored straps) and we will be putting embroidered towels in them as well as a mini first-aid kit. I'm still pondering putting some type of mug in them but I also don't want to have too many prices of luggage to haul either! What are you ladies planning to include?

Do you think I can use them for the lanterns, even if I am not using them as my florist? There is a $3 charge for putting the Welcome Bags in the rooms, but it is free if you leave them behind the front desk and they give them to the guests as they check in. Our contract never said the cake was included. I had asked too, unless it's just because we are having more people. As of right now I found bags at oriental trading company and also the dollar tree. The only things I have to put in so far are mini banana boat sunscreens.

I actually asked her if she has hanging lanterns and she said yes and quoted these prices which are MUCH lower then H3R... might be worth going with her for lanterns

10 pz $2,200 pesos  approx $177USD

20pz $3,600 pesos approx $291USD

30pz $5,400 pesos approx $436USD

She also told me they might be getting a light bamboo aisle runner... which would be easier then buying the rug.  Samantha if it doesn't work out with the bamboo then I'm most likely gonna buy the seagrass rug.  I'll keep u updated

Marissa you are on top of stuff... ur weddings after mine and u have it all worked out!  impressive.  What are you putting in your welcome bags?  Did you know there is a $3 charge to the bell boys for delivering them (said on my contract).  I'm deciding if I'll do one.  It is a really nice touch.  Also, I thought the cake was included...or did i make that up?

So weird about the entrees, I asked the same question when I was there.  I might ask if they'd do family style so that each table has some of each entree type and people can try what they'd like.

Thanks for the info on Ivan ...I might end up going with him too!

Where did you get the mini first-aid kits? That is a good idea. I only know that our cake wasn't included, maybe because we are having at least 75 people.

Are you staying at H3R the week before your wedding and the week after your wedding?

We are just going to make the kits, with band-aids, tylenol, etc.  The cake thing is still interesting, I will definitely have to check on it. We will be at H3R the week before our wedding (May 7-14) then we will be moving resorts for the honeymoon portion of our vacation! When do you plan to go?

My parents and I are getting to H3R on the 18th of May because I have my last final that day. We'll be staying till the 26th. My FI and his parents will be there the week before, but they'll be staying at the Grand Mayan for a few of those days. I was going to say I'd love to see pictures of your wedding if you were still going to be there. That's awesome though that you get to stay somewhere else for your honeymoon. We're taking our honeymoon in December of 2012 because I don't get many breaks from my grad school.

Ohh those darn finals and school breaks! I totally understand, I graduate law school on May 5th and will be leaving for Mexico on the 7th then getting back home only to have our AHR then spend the summer studying for/taking the bar. Its good to know that I'm not the only one trying to squeeze things in! I plan to bring my computer and our photographer will be giving us all of our images before he even leaves the resort the night of our wedding so maybe I can send you a few before you leave!

Congrats with almost being done with law school! We're definitely trying to squeeze everything in. I have my optometry school written portion of my boards a month before our wedding. At least we'll have a nice relaxing break after! I'd love to see some of your pics next year. I'm so excited for our wedding. I wish May was already here.

We will only be there for the week of the wedding Saturday 3/24- Sun 4/1 (wedding 3/30).  Unfortunately not a lot of breaks from work for my fiance or me.  Totally understand both finishing up grad school and the boards.  I finished gradschool for speech language pathology and my fiance took his boards for internal medicine last year.  Lot's going on :)  Are you two getting a videographer?  I have been in contact with mediamorfosis (who did marisa and luis's wedding in 2009 on the H3R website).  I LOVE their work... check out their blog, i have spent hours upon hours watching the videos!!)  I told Luis I was planning on booking them, but he warned me that two couples, one from Jan and one from May, still have not received their videos from their weddings... so it made me worry a little.

Just booked our trip in Oct. to talk to vendors and sign contracts with everyone!  YAY!  We will be going Oct6th-Oct9th  can't wait!!

I emailed Sara the make up artist and am waiting on a response.

As far as renting the lanterns from Saku... u should email her and ask.  It seems like she has a lot more then just flowers.

Wow, speech language pathology, that's awesome! One of my bridesmaids is going to school for that, too. I don't think we're doing a videographer.  Is it around the same price as a photographer? That is a long time not to get your video, especially the couple that got married in Jan. If they're well known and have good reviews, I would go for it still. I would talk to them about the time frame of them sending you the video though. Maybe you can make an agreement with them in your contract, that if they don't send it in 4 months you get partial money back.

You're going to have a great time at your site visit in October! Are you doing the tasting too? Will this be your first time there?

Sara is normally pretty quick at emailing back. If you're still waiting I can send you the prices. I know she does normally require at least 4 bridesmaids to get make-up done since she has to fly there. I did get Adrian from Styling Trio Riviera Maya to go down a little in price since I had 4 bridesmaids doing hair and make-up.

I'm still trying to choose between Juan Navarro and Gonzalo Nunez for photography. So many decisions!

I did e-mail the woman you mentioned for the lanterns and she sent me the same prices. I just have to see if she'll only do the lanterns without doing our flowers. Thanks again for her e-mail!

We won't be hiring a videographer but will be having one of my bridesmaid's boyfriend (hopefully her fiance by May!!) record the ceremony/reception because he has his degree in video journalism and works for a news channel so I'm hoping it works out! My only fear is how the sound will be, especially if it ends up being really windy.

Are you girls renting the chuppah or gazebo as Luis calls it from Saku as well?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
