Hi Girls!!!

For those of you who got married in May/June - do you girls have any insight? How did your weddings go?!! I'm dying to know. I hope you girls had the wedding of your dreams.

Is anyone having their wedding or welcome party at the beach? I'm having the welcome party on the beach. What are you girls doing about lighting? Does the resort provide it or are you getting a vendor to provide lighting?

Becks,

I believe you went and tried the food at the resort correct? I just received the menu, and was wondering what you thought was the best to eat? Some of the items scare me a little bit..LoL. Was also wondering what you were quoted per person for the meal? 60, 70 and 80 dollars per person seems like a little much!!

Anyone with any insight on the meals, could you let me know!!

We did taste the food and it was great.  I'll take a look at my paperwork when I get home and let you know exactly what we tasted.

If you want to modify some of the dishes, Oscar said that it wouldn't be a problem.  He also offered to help us come up with a vegetarian dish since we have quite a few of those in our group.

Since all of our guests will be staying under the all-inclusive package, the cost for the three course dinner and open bar is $20pp.   The private event lasts five hours--one for the cocktail hour and four hours for the reception.  Also, you can select from any part of the menu...I believe there is a Hacienda Menu and the Gala menus (or something like that).  Allibe let us select from any of those choices for our dinner.  You can also select from this list for a Welcome Party...or if you are having at least 50ppl, a BBQ is an option as well.

Ok! Thank you fo the insight.. I have been reading the menu that they gave us to choose from.. and it seems frightening.. LoL, it would be great to know what you tried. I do not know what a lot of the items are.. whether they did not know how to translate to english correctly, I am not sure. I may have to do some research :)

I did also get an email from Allibe about the 20$ thing, and I was super happy about that! I was worried I would have to pay the 60,70, and 80$ for EACH guest! Thank goodness that was not the case!

Let me know when you get a chance to look at your notes!

Thanks again!

Hey Avi,

We're getting married at H3R in April 2011 and I would love some of your information regarding vendors. We're heading down to meet all of the vendors in December but I'd like to do as much ground work as possible before we get there. You mentioned that you had information about DJs, Florists, Hair/Make up and photographers and if you wouldn't mind sharing, I would love all of it!

Were you pretty much able to use any one you wanted or does the hotel charge you for not using their vendors?

Thanks Avi!

Brooke

Has anyone been there recently or spoken to anyone at H3R about the spa?  When I was there last August they said they were working on a new spa and gym (because the one they have is really not special at all) and that it would be complete by this summer. I keep forgetting to ask when I speak to Luis or Allibe.

Hey, I finally remembered to pull out the menu and take a look at what we tasted during our site visit.  I'll try to list everything and what we chose.  Let me know if you have any specific questions!

Appetizer

1.  Three Maria Salad (Lettuce, tomato, panela cheese, avocado and basil vinaigrette)---DELICIOUS AND DEF OUR CHOICE

2.  Roman lettuce with bacon, puff pastry, parm cheese and creamy anchovy vinaigrette

3. Grilled Shrimp over apple crisp with goat cheese and caramelized onion--THIS WAS VERY UNIQUE/COOL PRESENTATION

Main Course

1.  Beef tournedo in bordelaise sauce with mushroom and marsala goulash, spring cous cous

2.  Hacienda Chicken:  Chicken breast stuffed with spinach and cheese covered in a buttered coriander sauce--THIS IS A TERRIFIC CHICKEN OPTION, IMO

3. Macadamia nut crusted lamb rack with warm chimichurri jelly served on a smoked arugula mirror---IF YOU LIKE LAMB, THIS IS TO DIE FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dessert

1.  Red wine canelones stuffed with cheese and pear mousse over balsamic reduction and caramel---DELICIOUS, WE WILL BE SERVING THIS

2. Coffee creme brulee and strawberry compote

3.  Tres Leches cake---SOOOO YUMMY, I HOPE TO SERVE THIS AT THE WELCOME PARTY!

Absolutely NOTHING was bad!!!  I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you choose.  We are hoping that Oscar will allow us to give our guests a choice between lamb and chicken for the entree (would have to provide the resort with exact #s of each in advance).  We also have a handful of vegetarians and Oscar told us that he can create something to our liking for them.

Makes me hungy typing this!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
