Hacienda Tres Rios Brides Post Here!

I hope Allibe doesn't get Shannan and Shannon (me) confused! She already sent me an email spelling my name with an "a" lol! But our weddings are in separate months so hopefully that will keep her straight.

Tricey- Thank you for the rough estimate. That is not too bad.. My bridesmaids are not having flowers, so that will save me a little bit.

Becks- I am checking that site out, Thanks for the ideas. Those are some basics that I am doing as well wink.gif Have you thought of gifts for your bridesmaids yet?

Shug and Tricey- What are the dates you are going to be staying at H3R? I am getting married on the 12th! So be there just before you guys! It is getting closer!!!!

Hmm...Doing a TON of research today on photographers and I'm pretty blown away by the prices of the ones I really liked. I fell in love with del Sol's work but they are definitely out of our price range after getting a quote..

I think you've probably posted before, but who are you all using? I remember Becks naming someone a while back. Has anyone else booked yet? At first I was thinking, wow, why spend the money to bring your own, but it's starting to seem more and more worth it. Assuming you pay for 3 nights stay and flights, that's only about $1000 for travel. I guess it would depend what they would charge for the weekend...

I know I've already posted about my photographer but thought I'd chime in again b/c I really think that bringing someone down is a great option. I LOVE Elizabeth Medina and was ready to book her but since she's pretty expensive, I decided to look around first at US photogs. I ended up finding mine through the forum. She is local so I have been able to meet her and she is going to do our engagement photos as well (great to loosen up camera-shy FI!).
I'm totally OBSESSED with my photographer (Terra Dawn Blog Washington DC Wedding Photographer) and she will basically be our paparazzi for whole trip. She's coming on Wed to scope out good photo locations and will shoot for us on Thursday during the welcome dinner, all day Friday and on Saturday for the wedding. FI and I were thinking of going over to Maroma for a few hours on Friday to do a trash the dress (with a different dress of course).
Anyway, we ended up getting Terra for less money than Elizabeth would have cost for 8hrs. It wasn't cheap mind you, but in my opinion a GREAT deal!!!

I am using Susan from Robert and Kathleen Photographers. Their work is AMAZING! My friend used them for her wedding last fall. New Haven Lawn Club, New Haven, CT: Lisa & Alex's Wedding Story - Robert & Kathleen Photographers

I looked into local photographers in Mexico as well but at the end of the day we felt more comfortable using someone in the U.S. and we also wanted to be able to get our Engagement shoot in NYC. They weren't cheap but their package deal was definitely worth it since we're getting coverage at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day plus our engagement session in NYC.

I posted not too long ago, but it is good to have all information clumped together.. We are actually going with a local. We went with Claudia Rodriguez. Claudia Rodriguez wedding photography I figured since she is a local she will have a better idea on good photo areas. I stumbled across her over a year ago, and fell in love with her style of pictures. Depending on how long you want, etc, I know it can be pricey. I did not think that her prices were unreasonable. But it would depend on your budget.

Hey girls I just wanted to ask those of you who went on site visits....did any of you girls have a problem with bugs? When we went in May we found 3 HUGE insects in our room. Apparently they come out of the mangrove due to the heat and find their ways into rooms. The guy said they had just fumigated....needless to say it freaked me out because these things were LARGE. We were told that this wasn't a normal issue and they would make sure nothing would happen to our guests when they came. Did any of you guys have that issue?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
