Yes, if anyone knows of any other ideas for a Catholic ceremony in Riv. Maya, that'd really be my first choice.

It has to be all-inclusive, family-friendly and have a Catholic chapel on the grounds. AND be willing to combine the Civil and religious ceremonies at the same time (or at least do one right after the other.)

I'm thinking Moon Palace and Grand Pallidium...do any other all-inclusives have Catholic chapels

Congratulations Amy and welcome to the forums! My only advice to you is if you do decide to have a legal marriage done that is low key and back home... do it after your big day out here! Or do it when you will have guest present for the first time. We have captured many weddings where the couple is already married and sometimes it feels as tho they have already shared that magical moment... and "something" is missing. Sometimes not... but from our experience I would suggest that when you have your guests present... that it be the first time your saying "I do" to each other.
Take care and best of luck!

welcome! it seems like doing the legal ceremony before heading to mexico works out nicely for most couples... so maybe you can convince him to go along with your fabulous idea. congrats!!
