I also put a deposit down on my photographer, so this new rule worries me. I sent my WC an email to see if this rule is true, will post when I get her reply. Where is the rule stated? If it's not in our original contract, then maybe we can fight it. If we signed contracts with outside vendors before this rule and our contracts do not clearly state this rule, then does it apply? Any one a lawyer or marrying one, who can check this out? This really sucks because I picked RIU because you could use outside vendors as long as you got the day pass.

Did other Brides get an email from their WC? I did not receive one.

Hi Guys! I wonder if we're dealing with the same Daniela- This is the reply I got, but I don't know if this applies to all resorts, since she singled the name out:

Hello again!

After consulting with my colleague at the wedding operations department on Palace Riviera Maya, we confirm you are allowed to bring your own photographer but another external vendor fee besides 100 usd may apply.

If you shall require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a great weekend,

I just got an e-mail back from Paola from Los Cabos, he is the sales wedding coordinator for the Riu hotels in Los Cabos. He has confirmed that this is indeed true. In his e-mail he told me that they are dealing with the hotels at this time to honor the exception made to couples that have already booked, and he told me that he would let me know as soon as he has accurate information. I let him know that I have already put my deposit down on our photographers and that if this is the case I will be looking at other loctaions for our wedding. I am hoping that they will accommodate all of our original agreements. Lets keep our fingers crossed!!

I just got an email back from my WC at RIU in Montego Bay. She first said not all outside vendors were allowed. Then said, she only said that, because she needs to know how to organize the day...Well, I thought that was weird but in the end as long as I pay the day pass it is allowed.

I'm getting married July 1, 2010.

I emailed Daniela Ocampo, the WC at Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas and I haven't heard back from her yet. I'll post whatever response I get.

Interesting that Paola Flores responded - she is the Sales Coordinator. I checked my emails and I just realized that they share the same email address.

I hope I hear back from someone with good news.

Hi JCruz

I have only been in contact with Paola Flores at this time, the wedding coordinator from the Riu Santa Fe has not yet been in touch with me regarding our wedding in January. Paola told me I would hear from her closer to the actual wedding date. Paola also got back to me again after her first initial e-mail and told me that she would let me know by Monday what was happening with this issue. It sounds like they are trying their best to honor couples who have already booked. Again lets keep our fingers crossed for some good news. I will post as soon as I hear any information.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
