Mine was in a backyard next to a pool, lined with candles and tables decorated with white linens, green and black flower arrangements (the black flowers were incredible!) and there were candles everywhere. I gave them my guest books from my wedding and photos of all my relatives on their wedding day that I had at my reception as well. I brought along the mustaches too for obvious reasons.

My best friend had little bubble tubes made with our names and wedding dates on them. They had food, just snack like food mostly with perrier. There was a bar with champagne and lambrusco and real champange flute glasses with a bowl of rapsberries. There were chairs everywhere and everyone just basically hung out and had a good time. Music was playing that a friend put together, some our wedding music, others songs that reminded us of Mexico.

It wasn't like a wedding reception at all, it was a way for people to come celebrate with us that weren't able to go, sign my guest book and bring a present!

Wow, sounds divine! I like the idea of just serving one celebratory drink, that way no need to have some one bartend (you can't go wrong with champagne & raspberries can you? wink.gif). I so want to get some props like the mustaches too--etsy here I come!

I wish I knew someone with a large backyard and a pool !!

Di your pictures look amazing!

Have any of you planned a small BBQ type reception for when you got home or planning to over the summer? My husband & I have been talking about it but haven't made plans yet & if we do it would be very informal but I think mainly just to have fun and get our friends and family together.

that's what we're planning right now - ours is on june 12 and will be just a casual bbq in our back yard (no big beautiful pool, unfortunately!). right now, we're expecting about 60-70 people. we're having it open house style (starting at 3pm) so people can just stop by whenever they can.

we will serve burgers, brats, dogs, salads, etc. along with beer and wine. we'll have a slide show playing of our wedding pics (inside in the daytime, then moving it to outside once it's dark).

i'm planning to stop at the farmers market that morning to load up on flowers and i'll do simple table centerpieces, likely just flowers floating/submersed in water and some pretty things in the bottoms of glass vases.

we're still looking for fun little ideas to make it memorable and fun but definitely want to keep a simple and relaxed atmosphere (as well as keeping the costs down!).

Thank you! I don't have any pictures of the set up, once I get them from others I'll share :)

It was very fun, I LOVE champange so it was perfect, the next day was not wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
