May 2010 Brides!

Recommended Posts

Hello!! I'm a May 2010 bride too. :-)

I just thought I would share our strategy for saving some $$$ on invites/STDs!

We created a wedding website (through brides.com) with all of the details about the wedding, plus everyone will RSVP on the site too. (I had friends who did the same thing and said only a couple of relatives didn't have internet access, so they just called to RSVP and they updated it manually.)

We were originally going to send out save the dates, but realized that they would say the same thing as the invitations (since the RSVPs are online, along with all of the details, there was no need to do the formal invitations with all of the enclosures). So, we decided to send the invites now, even though it's early. That way, people have even more time to plan and save some money if need be. (I'll post a picture when they're done - we went the DIY route too to save even more $!)

So, basically we cut out the cost of save the dates, the cost of RSVP cards and postage, and the cost of multiple invitation pieces and expensive printing. Plus, we both are pretty environmentally conscious, so we were happy to be able to save a few trees in the process. (And some of the paper I am using for the invites is recycled.) YAY!

Oh, and we went on godaddy.com and bought a personalized web address to use on brides.com so it would be easy for people to remember the site address.

All these great ideas to do...but May 2010 *seems* so far away!

Our wedding is May 5, 2010, and I bet I'll finally get around to using some of these ideas in or around April. That's just the way I am.

If my name wasn't Tina, it wouldn't be in the word procrasTINAte.

:)

*YAY* MAY 2010 BRIDES!!

After all this time (we settled on a date LONG ago) I'm actually feelin a lil' pressure/pinch now that we're inside the single digit mark! Is that wierd or what? I'm just so used to being able to say "We still have over a year"....it's just strange.

I can just see myself at 6 months. Ready to dive off a roof top somewhere.

So glad we found each other!
So how far along in your planning are you? It seems like we have SO much time, but at the same time, I think it's going to go by faster than we realize. I was asking my TA some questions and she tells me that usually you don't start coordinating the details with your WC until about 4 months out, and I was like WHAT?!?!? I definitely don't want to be a Bridezilla, but there's certain things I need to figure out now - or at least fairly soon. For example - I'm debating about my flowers. Do I use real ones or go with real touch and bring them down myself? Well I want to see what the resort can offer and what the cost is before I decide, and if I am going to use a florist and go with the real touch ones, I need to know now because the person I would most likely use books up way in advance.

And the funny thing is, is that I really thought a DW was going to be SO simple and I could have it planned just like that. Well then I found this site and I just found so many great ideas that now the planning is almost all I can think about. I can easily see how some brides get carried away with their planning!

Yay! Just found this post - I'm a May 15th! We sent out our save the dates a few weeks ago, we're getting married at The Royal.

I saw the discussion paying everything for cash and we're doing this as well - paying for whatever we can along the way!!!

Glad to find all of you girls! :)

LOL!!! I feel exactly the same way! We're under 10 months! Seems like a lot of time and not enough all in the same!

I feel stuck... I think a dress is the next thing to do and get people that RSVP'd to freakin book!

What are you doing now? I feel lost again like I did in the beginning :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
