diana,

not me. i have been tanning for 3 weeks now and leave in another 3 weeks, so i should be pretty good to go by then (i start out pretty fair, as you can tell from my pics!) if i still need some extra color before going, i'd feel more comfortable doing an ultrabronze session or two than risk the spray tan. i know they can be done well, but i've never done it and i'd be the lucky one to turn out orange. i'm having orange at my wedding, but i'm definitely not planning to match my decor! :)

Nothing against bed tanning at all but I chose not to do that route. I was just curious if there are any good results with spray tan if done professionally. I'm not THAT pale though. I've never done any tanning at all before well except natural tan!

Just be careful with spray tan cuz sometime is just washes off. If you get to playa de carmen earlier then your wedding date, I say use the sun, it would give you the best tan. My wedding is on Sat and I am arriving a day before my guests so that I can lather myself in oil and get a great tan... LOL :)

oh i know, i'm not at all a fan of tanning either! but when you start out as pasty white as i do, i need all the help i can get so i don't absolutely fry when i get to mexico. i know it's not the best thing to do, but i feel like a few weeks of tanning is going to be better for me than serious burns when i'm on vacation. if i had natural pigment in my skin i wouldn't be tanning either! i just see it as the lesser of two evils!

i've heard good things about spray tans - if you get them done at a reputable place. i think it's one of those instances where you definitely get what you pay for. let me know if you end up doing it - i'd love to hear how it goes!

Dianep, that is awesome about your dress!

Lady Di, I had a friend that got a spray tan for something (I can't recall what) but 2 or 3 days afterwards it became very streaky. I would definitely ask the company you go to how it will hold up with chlorine & salt water.

JT I wish I could do that but I would look like a lobster if I put oil on, ha!

I wish I would have gone to the tanning bed but I ran out of time and next week I am out of town for work all week.

Di - I decided not to get a spray tan, I've been going to tanning beds for a few weeks now because I'm pasty and I'll burn in Mexico if I don't because it's SO hot down there so this is like getting a base going.

I've done Mystic tan and the airbrush tan where someone sprays you by hand (done for my BD pix) and it turned out great. I don't know if it would last in Mexico though. My plan to stay extra goldeny is to buy some tanning lotion. I've tried SO many tanning lotions and my favorite non-steak, non-orange one is the Jergen's from the grocery store, no joke. It's amazing and like $8.

So there's my tan plan, LOL!

Diane - that's so awesome!! I'm gonna go check out your dress...

Hi Ladies, There are three key points with spray tanning. One, go to a facility that does airbrush tanning. They give you a custom mixture and someone airbrushes you...no machine. This way there is no misinterpretation of the directions and no one will look like Ross from that one "Friends" episode. The second key point is to exfoliate well with a body polish the day before. The third is do not use any body soap or lotion with oil in it like Dove or Olay. The tanning agent will not stick due to the oil residue left on your skin.

I have had success with spray tanning, sticking to the key points above. I am very fair..that is a nicer way of saying, pale. I have decided due to time, stress, graduate school and my full-time job not to tan. I am blond, blue eyed and fair, that's me naturally. I have decided to spend extra money on some MAC make up. I want my blue eyes to pop. I just got a hair conditioning treatment that my stylist said will help the camera catch the light on my hair and look great. I am also resigned to the fact, I don't think my natural look is that bad. If you are nervous about being streaky, just go natural and feel great. If you feel great, you will look great! The camera will pick up on confidence.

I wish all the May 2010 brides good luck with tanning, make up, hair, etc. I just realized I will be leaving for Italy in a little over a week. I am so excited!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
