May 2010 Brides!

Recommended Posts

Thanks girls! I've got this nervous anticipation thing going on since I don't have a solid look I'm going for...

I'll definitely take pictures, I take pictures of everything, my planning thread is pictures galore!

I made an inspiration board of different hairstyles I like so maybe a mix and match of something!

I'm open to suggestions, I'm wearing a tulle cage veil and a feather fascinator for the reception. My dress is vintage/modern with an Art Deco look.

Question: How many dress fittings did it take all of you to complete alterations? My dress doesn't even come in until April 26th and I leave for Mexico on May 9th. I have an appointment the day it comes in and they assure me there is plenty of time but I am very nervous. I have also lost about 20 lbs since I ordered the dress.

Between that and trying to decide on songs for our different playlists, finalizing the ceremony, and drama with people trying to bring their kids to the couple shower, I am totally wiped and ready for this whole thing to be over.

Amanda, I am on my third dress fitting tonight. The boob area was big so more needed to be taken in. I kept going back every two weeks, because of timing and my schedule. Their late night is Thursday, so that's why =)

I would really stress the wedding date and bluff if you need to, so you’re not stressed about it. But rest assured...they are professionals and know what they are doing. =)

I only had two fittings. The first round of alterations turned out to fit perfectly. The boob area was too big on me too the first time around but I just told her to stuff something in there, I'll take all the help I can get. FI's going to love 'em. hahaha

Diana & Shannon - Thank you! Those are actually my 2 favorites, the center one for the back and the waves in the front for vintage. I'll post pictures after tonight of the options we went over and you ladies can help me narrow it down! Thanks :)

I tried on my dress when it came in and had 2 fittings after that.

I have not gotten my dress fixed. Oops. I bought it from a consignment store so i need to go to this seamstress soon.

I just booked a hair trial next Thursday so I def will take pics. I'm undecided if i should leave it up or down because I'm getting clip on hair extensions. I don't have that much of hair.

Wow I've missed a ton today!! Clinicals are getting in the way of my BDW time!

dianep - woo hoo! 1 month to go!

Wow, that means 2 weeks for Shannon, and 3 for Amy! Holy crap time is moving fast!!

Shannon I love your hair - it's beautiful!! And the bags, tags, etc look so great! I really like your colors.

Amy, I'm with you, Di & Shannon - same 2 hair favorites. The back of the middle style is so pretty!

I have my 2nd fitting next Thurs, then my last one is scheduled for 5/4. Amanda, I can imagine you'd be stressed out but I'm sure they'll be able to get it done.

All this talk of hair trials makes me think I should do one. I hadn't really considered it up 'til now. hmmm... you girls are a bad influence wink.gif

I started my planning thread and I have soooo many pictures. It's gonna be ridiculous!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
