Your review was so detailed - thank you! It reminded me that I need to stay calm during the planning process and during the event b/c little things will come up that might be hard to deal with but in the end it's not about the little things its about marrying the one you love. I think your pictures are great, so colorful - GREAT flowers and yes the tent looked AMAZING! :) Just curious, was it a high number of your guests who didnt show up b/c of the trip/costs? Or was the number expected? I'm a little worried about this for my own wedding with the economy being bad. Also, did you have any guests who said they were coming and didn't?

Thanks! I was glad to share my thoughts- both good and bad- throughout this process. You know, since there aren't as many Hawaii/ Kauai brides, we really need to share our opinions and experiences...

weddinggirl, the issues with guests and invites were some of the most complicated, and made me want to just elope! More than half of the guests didn't RSVP (both yes and no's), I had more "maybes" until 2 weeks before the wedding than I could count, and 1 no-show. I felt bad because I didn't have a hotel or resort to block off rooms for group rates, which I think complicated things. We urged our guests to check out vacation rentals in our area, and provided them with contact information. We also offered several people the chance to stay in our rental for free, but either the timing or the airfare got in the way.

I definitely have to give the wc props for doing up the tent! I just told her I trusted her judgement, and that we wanted local flowers. She pulled off an amazing set up! All I picked out were the table cloths!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
