tell me about your photographer

My fiance had a fit when I told him how much photographers can cost and says we just will have to live with the pictures our guests take! I am NOT ok with this! So, I thought maybe I would do a bit more research.

Can you tell me who you hired, where they are, where your wedding is, how much you're paying and what it includes. I'm specifically looking for somebody in the Runaway Bay area but even info on people who will travel would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Have you contacted any of the photog from the forum? I would think that the amoutn you pay would be based on where they are flying from and whanot, so you are probably better off finding a photog you like and trying to work something out with them.

I wuold say that you are absolutely right thought to try to push for mre pictures. We used the resort photog in JA (and had the guests send us pics as well) and then hired a phtog for our AHR. And I am SO disappointed that I don't have great photos of my real wedding. I like my AHR photos, but that was just a party to celebrate our marriage. It's my one MAJOR regret, so I wuold contact photogs and try to see if someone is in your budget. Or even try a different JA photog.

Wedding photography can range in prices, it will depend on if you hire a local photogapher (where you may only get a couple hours of coverage) to hiring a US photographer where they travel there for a couple days can capture your full wedding and even a TTD session and rehersal dinner. We have many photographers on the forum, all at different pricing points, IMO I would start researching styles that you and your FI like, and then send them an inquiry.

Photography was the one thing I refused to budge on when I was getting married on, I really wanted photos that I could charish and love forever. So we made it work and cut other things out so we could afford who we wanted to hire.

MY FI freaked too when he saw the prices. He's still having a fit but that was NOT a battle he was going to win. I booked our photogs without telling him because I couldn't compromise the pictures on our wedding day. To each their own but I wanted the lone memories of the wedding to be beautiful and not cheap looking. Not to say you can't find a good photographer for cheap...I'm just saying doing you research and find someone who's style your comfortable with as well as the price.

Good luck!

I have to agree with Carly. My only regret is not having a photog other than the resort photog for our wedding. The pictures we got are mediocre at best and not worth it for the money we spent. If I could do it all over again I'd hire a pro photog for our wedding. Look into the forum's photog's or research a few from Jamaica. Some brides have had good luck with SunGold Photography There's many options - check 'em out!

I was in your same situation. I just can not, will not, spend $2000 - $3000 for pictures. The idea just made me sick. The resort photographer was not to my liking. STRESS!! I ended up choosing Diana Campbell. Here is her info.

You will find her pricing more reasonable. If you email her, she will CALL you back rather quickly.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your search.

I'm getting married in Montego Bay and photography is very important to me. I did a lot of research on the photographers local to the area and decided to go with Sungold that Sloan mentioned. Their pictures are beautiful and they have been great to deal with so far.

It is going to be expensive, probably 1/3 of my budget, but when the wedding is over, the pictures are what you have to remember it by.

My package has 2 photographers for the day, and a TTD session - If you PM me I can give you more details.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
