BM Costs

Recommended Posts

I haven't been in any weddings really, but I am a bit sensitive to not put too big of a cost on my BMs. To me, $200 seems like a lot for a BM dress that will likely not be worn again, but from what I can tell, that seems to be the going rate for these dresses so it is not necessarily unreasonable. You also seem to be very accomodating in other areas.

If it were me, I would partially/fully pay for the dresses and be less accomodating in other areas like having my BM stay in my master suite. If they are going to do that, then I think it is okay to let them pay $200 for the dress.

I think $200 is a pretty decent price in terms of bridesmaid dresses. I am asking my girls to spend about that after shipping since they are all out of state. You have to look at this way, if they are your life friends (which to me all bridesmaids should be) your wedding is worth it to them.

I'm paying for my BM dresses and have decided (thanks to a post on here) to get the dresses from Victoria's Secret. The dresses are sooo beachy and the girls will be able to wear them again. I'm making it a part of their gifts. I already feel so guilty about asking people to save the money to come to my DW, that I felt I had to....which kind of sucks because i'm paying alot of money to have this wedding and then have to fork out more for the dresses, luckily the girls picked out a dress that only costs $38!

Good luck with your decision!!

Wow MelDal! I was looking at the dresses on VS as well but I think we might be going with one of the convertible dresses which are closer to $100 and I'm totally happy with that! I figured they would all be able to get the same look but still be able to wear it to suit their own style more too. My bm's all have very different body shapes so why not! Awesome that your girls all picked a cheap one for you too.

We're buying our wedding party's shoes as a gift and even though at first I wasn't sure whether I'd be paying for the bm's dresses, I want to at least pay for half. That being said of course we'll do the same for the our gm as well. I have to agree with the other ladies here that since our friends are all spending enough just to come to the wedding with us, then i want to make sure that I do something for them as well!

Yeah, I lucked out with them. They also have them in the colors i wanted...chocolate brown/pink so that was an added bonus.

This is the dress they picked:

I don't know if this link will work or not as i've been trying all morning to hit 150 posts, but hopefully you can see them. They are great for Mexico and the girls will definitley wear them again...Now to find a pair of shoes that match...

My bridesmaids all agreed on one dress from David's Bridal that runs about $135 each. Fortunately, I've been able to find the same dress on ebay for less than half that price for 2 of my 4 bridesmaids. I'm still hoping 2 more will pop up in the right size and color. They were both worn once before, but never altered. My bridesmaids didn't mind because they'd only be wearing it once anyway, then have the option of reselling it again. Maybe ebay is an option for your bridesmaids?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
