BM Costs

Recommended Posts

I felt that since I had picked a resort where is it $191pp per night plus they had to pay for their air fare, I wanted to make sure that the dresses were under $150. I ended up finding super cute dresses at David's Bridal that came to $120 after tax. I felt that it was a fair price and I still picked up the tab for the girls shoes. I do feel that $200 is high after asking them to pay their way. Of course they expect to buy their dresse and shoes but maybe you could pick up some of the tab somewhere in their as part of the bridesmaids gifts. I mean if I was a BM I would rather have the bride buy me my outift vs. give me a gift...so that was the logic I used when buying them their shoes and jewelry instead of something else.

For my wedding since i didnt buy the dresses for them, i let my MOH and BM pick their own dresses - i just gave them a color pallet, that way they could spend as little or as much as they wanted.
I love the just pick a color arrangement. I think I have finally served in my last wedding, but I really wish my friends would have done that. One let us at least pick our own style, but it had to be from a certain brand. I got the cheapest one, which was $100 using the discount site. They were all a material that I knew wouldn't look good on me & sure enough it's clinging to my stomach in every picture. It's just rarely good when someone else is doing the shopping. Anyway, I'm looking forward to days of picking out my own clothes for weddings.

I tend to agree with Morgan, I wish that this crazy tradition never got started! As a first time bridesmaid this past year, I was shocked how much money I had to spend just to be in the wedding! Now, if you've spent that much to be in your friends' weddings, then I don't think they'll expect anything different to be in yours. It's definitely a case-by-case basis and you know your friends best. Personally, I'll be paying for two nights stay, dresses, makeup and hair for my bridesmaids.

Well, both of my bridesmaids are family so they were coming to our wedding anyways! So I lucked out. But I did pay for my MOH's dress! She is my 21 year old sister who is a full time nursing student. She is very tight on money. I thought it was only fair.

So if you don't want to pay for their dress, I think it would be okay to offer to pay for their hair & shoes. You are right when you say BM's spend alot of money on your special day!

Just remember to pick a BM dress that they can wear again. I picked jcrew strapless dresses that they can wear again and again!

Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
