And last time I did one....I broke even, didn't make any profit. Shouldn't have done it but I did. I learned my lesson.
If your normal price is $200 per person for the session, how did you lose money charging $500 per person for several brides' back to back sessions?

I do understand that photography takes work, equipment, and time. Photography is not a field that is alone in that, and I am not trying to discount someone's time. I also understand that you get what you pay for, but unfortunately, if I can't get a boudoir photographer that I like at a price that I can afford, I will have to choose a different gift.

My goal is to work with whichever photog that I select to come up with a package that is win-win. There are things in some packages that take time and energy from the photographer but do not add value to me. If I'm willing to cut out some things that I don't need and the photographer is willing to edit the price accordingly, then I consider that a win-win situation.

I just want to be clear and fair, we have to make sure that we are comparing apples to apples. Each package is different and comes with different numbers of outfit changes and pictures, etc. Jennifer's packages start at a very reasonable $425 which is not out of line with what I have seen. That does not include makeup or hair or an album BUT she has her own studio so you do not have to rent a hotel and she has some accessories already and you do not have to all come in on the same date to get the discount.

I am not advocating anyone...but I feel bad when I see a photographer's rates quoted in a vaccum. Also, who knows what deals have been cut with others and it really is not fair to put someone....the photographer or the bride... out there like this...this is why I asked for private messages. Maybe I am sensitive because I too have my own business (not wedding related) and if my clients were to begin to compare prices over the internet..forget it!! Each situation is different and we have no idea of knowing each circumstance and package. JMHO and not meant to insult anyone at all.

Bottom line...myself, Saphire and others are loooking for a boudoir package that is reasonable.

I COMPLETELY agree!! I have a private practice and LAWD (yes I said that lol) knows that I don't want all of NYC sending messages all over the city about rates they were quoted. I regret even adding her prices to the forum. In the past I have PM'd that response, and I should have done that in this case also.

Let me state I DO NOT RECEIVE ANY KICKBACKS FROM RECOMMENDING JENNIFER OR ANY OTHER VENDOR I HAVE CHOSEN TO WORK WITH.

At the end of the day, I want people to refer me and my business if I do a good job and that is exactly what I CHOSE to do with my photographer. I was more than pleased with the service and the end result so I was sharing the love.

Money of course is an issue in this economic climate, but I am not going to let the cost of something dictate what I will and won't do, but that is just me. In any rate, as I stated before, good luck with the search.

A lot of the photographers I find are also very pricey... Kamila is up to $500 for a group and the only one I found that seems reputable on LI is Longislandboudoirphotography, and they are $475 and if you want dvd of prints it is an additional $500!!! huh? I don't want something sketchy where they will sell my pics online after I leave or kidnap me and sell me on the black market(sorry my mom has brainwashed me!)... any suggestions for reputable photographers on Long Island or NYC?
LMAO!! Slaps that was hysterical! Did you ever get a BD session after all (and live to tell about it!!! hahahaa)?

As for the price issue, did anyone here who got a BD session in NY think they overpaid or got a product NOT worth the $500+ amount charged??

I was looking into doing a session with Jen around July 17 because I leave August 24 and need my pics before I go.

I think that we can all book together and get the discount but we can still go on different days. I have to find the email but I think it was something like 2 girls 5% off 3 girls 10% off and so on. If you want to do the "group" rate, I think we might have to do it on the same day.

Let me know what you ladies decide and feel free to PM me. Gotta book soon cause she fills up quick.

Thanks ya'll

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
