Wow!! I'm so sorry to hear that!! But I wish you all the best in planning your at home wedding!! You never know... I always think there is a reason for why things happen to us... sometimes they seem so horrible at the time...but then work out all for the best in the end!!

Sorry Brandy for all of the hardships you're enduring now. Just know that there is ALWAYS a silver lining! It is hard for you now, and I am proud of your ability to stay strong when things that aren't under your control force you to make difficult decisions. Your FI is lucky to be with someone selfless who can give that up, I know it couldn't be easy for a girl who's been dreaming of a beautiful dw! Just hang in there, and make an AWESOME wedding back home! At least more people will be able to attend (not that you necessarily want them to be there after bailing on you, buuuuut,) it will free up finances that will make your future life together more tolerable! PLUS you still get to have a honeymoon in MX of sorts, yeah? Now you guys get uninterrupted time together, that will be your total reward for good behavior!

There are so many threads of budgeting a beautiful, low cost wedding at home, especially when you DIY!!

Good luck and let us know how things turn out for you!

As promised, Iâ€m going to give you ladies a quick update on how things have been unfolding since our minor disaster. We got an appointment with the florist today, and she was wonderful! She agreed to do our wedding, and since we are using all preferred vendors in her little “network†or whatever weâ€re getting a pretty sweet discount. She quoted us right at $1000 for everything that weâ€ll need, which I think is a more than fair price considering we now have a colossal wedding party (8 attendants on each side.)

I managed to sell my original wedding dress on ebay. I got back half of what I paid for it, so I guess I canâ€t complain too much, as itâ€s better than not getting anything back at all. Iâ€m getting all of my BMâ€s together Saturday and weâ€ll be ordering their dresses, as well as mine as long as I find it.

Things seem to be stabilizing again after all thatâ€s happened. Hopefully the meeting with the priest tonight goes well!

Oh, Brandy! I AM SOOOOO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT ALL OF YOUR TROUBLES and MY HEART BREAKS FOR YOU!

Please remember, although the name of this wonderful forum is "Best Destination Wedding", it doesn't mean that you can't still participate even if you are now going to get married at home! The same fabulous support system will always be here and available to you to share in your wedding planning experience, so even though you had to make the devastating decision to cancel your DW, DON'T BE A STRANGER, sweetheart!

We'll always be right here... I've said it before but BDW should also stand for "Best Damn Women!" on the net, because that's what we've got in here! wink.gif Stay strong, and my thoughts are with you!

sorry to hear that your DW plans have to be scrapped. Perhaps maybe you two could still have a "symbolic" ceremony in Mexico ? that way you get to experience a bit of the DW....

also about the deposits, that SUCKS. I wonder if you pleaded with the resort if they'd refund you? It's not like the wedding was right around the corner... it was far enough away so that they could certainly rebook. If not , could you maybe see if your TA can use your block of rooms for other clients?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
