FoxyBride's Past Due Planning Thread

Recommended Posts

I had this done before I left but there was a few things I wanted to add but of course in the days leading up to the wedding, I got too busy to do them! Oh well, I hope this helps someone anyway!

We were engaged on July 3rd, 2008. I posted that story here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...226#post981132

We decided to get married in Vegas since I live here (part-time now since Iâ€m back & forth between his place in Cleveland and here) and because he knows 1 GILLION people and our wedding would be astronomical in size. People would literally just be “dropping by.†Thatâ€s how his friends are. I really wanted an outdoor spot so we settled on The Flamingo Hotel on the West Lawn since they have reasonable prices and pretty grounds.

We are then doing a reception in one of the Panorama Suites at Planet Hollywood. We are having it catered by “Big Mamaâ€s Soul Food†since we wanted people to eat REAL food at the reception and not the usual wedding fare.

We are then doing a “mini-moon†at the M Resort in Vegas. We thought it would be good to get away from the strip since itâ€s not like we havenâ€t been on it a ton and the M is brand new. Plus, I found an awesome rate.

I DIYâ€d our STDs and our invitations since I do graphic design work on the side. It ended up saving us a ton over professional work so I think it was worth it.

No pics of FI’s suit because he decided since he doesn’t get to see my dress, I can’t see his suit! We ordered a custom linen suit though from Studiosuits.com, Custom Suits | Designer Suits in Natural Linen. He will wear white shirt & orange tie.

I found the BMs dresses are Marshalls. They had to do a little alterations since Marshall’s isn’t exactly cut to order, but they all worked out!

The groomsmen also order suits from Studiosuits.com, Custom Suits | Designer Suits but they will be wearing light beige. I purchase tie/hanky/cufflink sets from eBay to go with the suits and they also will be wearing white shirts.

I'm a University of Michigan alum but I'm marrying the enemy, an Ohioan. I thought this would be cute for him to find under the dress. I ordered it on eBay.

A bouquet comes with the package we are ordering at the Flamingo but I DIY’d some silk bouquets for the BMs , the boutonnieres for the GMs and corsages for the mom’s.

I ended up doing the OOT bags once I got to the hotel and I never got a pic of them but I made water bottle labels from a 2 x 4 address labels I had lying around and included a bottle of water, 944 magazine, a map of the strip, playing cards, AXE cologne samples, luggage tags and a welcome brochure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
