Hello everyone, I am highjacking this original posting to explain that I merged all the threads that I could find related to this topic. Please keep all your questions/concerns in THIS thread and DO NOT start a new one. This will make it easier for future brides to find all the information that they need in one particular thread.

Thanks!

No problem. I carried a really large purse and my wedding dress, hubby carried 2 carry on bags. Alaska Air says purses don't count either, they are considered "personal items" that don't factor in the carry on allowance. You do get a lot of attention with that dress bag at airports, it's cool.

They let me hang my dress in the first class closet, made an announcement to the whole plane, and gave us champagne - woohoo! One flight attendant told us twice he's seen brides get off and actually forget the dress. Can you imagine??

technically it's one carry on item, plus a personal item. but really, it all depends on your gate agent and flight attendant! but like others have suggested, just throw it in your garment bag while you walk past the person. there's a 99.9% chance you'll be just fine!

I have always been told that purses do not count. When I was a BM last year at a wedding in the DR, I carried on my purse, BM dress in a garmet bag and a whellie carry on case. No one even looked at me strange, so I do not think its a problem at all. Your Travel Agent should be able to tell you though, or call the airline, they will tell you. Most actually have luggage allowances on their website.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
