Guests who forget this is YOUR wedding, not theirs...

bcbride....wow, really? jellyfish?

You know what is getting to me the most is that I'm not the kind of person to put up with anyone's BS. I'm a nurse (almost, done with school in May) and have been thick skinned all my life. I don't know why all of a sudden I'm letting peoples' opinions get to me. Hopefully it will get easier as time goes by (only been engaged 1 month). It's very comforting to know I'm not the only one with difficult/selfish people in my life. I honestly think a lot of them are jealous that they had their wedding/reception in some boring church/banquet hall, while all of us are going to be in paradise for ours! Here's to all of us who have stepped out of the box! Cheers!

LOL! The jellyfish... I have heard so much but that tops the list! I used to defend "why are you having it in Mexico when you can have it here?" with "it is too expensive here(NY)", but then one of my "friends" said, "well of course it is cheaper for you when you are passing the cost on to the guests!" OH NO SHE DIDN"T!!!!!! I could not believe that! Now I am not even justifying it, I am so sick of people complaining. Come if you want, if you don't stay home!!!

LOL, I might have had to tell that person that they just suck at life. Come on, who says something like that? Lets keep this thread going, I'm sure we will all get a good laugh at the ridiculous things people have to say about destination weddings...

-Taguania, I've had people say that to me too, "why do you have to go to Mexico, why can't you just have it around here?" In fact when I told a few people it was going to be Mexico, they said "oh, well we will have to get you to change your mind about that." Seriously, they have all had their weddings (some of them 2 weddings, lol) and done what they wanted, now it's our turn. Maybe I just need to drastically cut my guest list, haha
I often wonder if it would be more fun with a smaller group anyway! :) You all will have a great time no matter who does and does not make it to Mexico! It's your dream, it's your life. Don't let anyone bring you down! In my opinion, it's their loss!

Oh I totally feel for you!! We have had some guests voice their opinions on the cost, location and even said "why don't you just have the whole thing at home" (because we are having an AHR). At first I really let the comments eat away at me, and even went so far as to change the location to make it less costly for our guests. I'm now starting to think that you can't please everyone, and sadly some people will comlpain no matter what you decide - so in that case it sucks to be them because everyone else will be having a blast while they mope (or don't come at all).

Yeah, anyone who complains about $580 AI vacation for 5 days really has no sense of how much these things cost.

I will not tolerate complainers at my wedding. My sentiment is unless they are the groom, their presence is not a necessity. If they come, I don't want to hear a peep of whining about it. If they can't accomplish that, they should STAY HOME and save me the headache and the money.

Speaking of which, I would have put that person in their place who said that the bridegroom is passing the cost onto the guest; that is absolutely OBNOXIOUS

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
