Please help me decide!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok so I'm stuck. I'm getting married in Dreams Cancun, in our wedding package pictures and videographer are included. Now my question is has any bride out there stuck to the actual package? Are you satisfied with your pics and video? Or should I look into hiring a photographer down there? FYI my FI is gonna take some convincing if I do decide to go the hiring a photographer route. He says by the time I'm done buying first aid kits for $1 and Pashminas for $2, our wedding will have cost $40,000.

I think that is up to you and how important your Pictures are to you. If you like the work you have seen from your Resort photographer then you should be fine, BUT if you are not sure of that person work I would find a photographer whos work you loved. That being siad my photographer was my most important thing, so you just have to think about how important your pictures are to you!!!

I'm getting married at Dreams Cancun also and I decided to go with another photographer. When I first compared the resort photographer's work to other photog's I didn't think he measured up but I wasn't willing to pay the high cost of those better photographers.

After a stressful search I decided to go with Sascha Gluck, i like his work and he has good feedback, a good price, and was available on my date. I'm still using the resort photographer but will do a session the day before the wedding. I'm planning to ask our group to wear white while FI and I are in a color. I figured this way I get 2 sessions with 2 different photographers so I'm bound to get some good shots!

Actually after the resort photographer contacted me recently I was wondering why I stressed so much over it. I've seen some good feedback and pics from him on this forum. So don't stress too much over it but decide soon since the photographers book up rather quickly.

I think some things are worth investing in and that's wedding photography. Our package included photos but I sat down with FI and we looked at portfolios and decided that it was better to get our own photographer. We even are thinking of cutting out the video and have a family member take footage.

We will spend more on photos than we planned but I think it will be worth it. I was willing to cut things and have had to get another job but it's worth it. Pashimas and first aid kits are a great idea but maybe you can trim certain parts of your budget to make room for things that you feel are important.

I was having the same dilemna. I eventually decided not to stick to the standard package offered by Dreams (Los Cabos.) I chose to get the basic package that is offered for free (that did not include the photographer) because I liked other photographers work in the area and with the packages that were offered the photographer was only available to me for one hour and the videographer was available for aprox. 45 mins. I wanted much more time and pics without having to pay the extra per hour charge. It works out in the end. The packages are helpful, but you don't have to stick to it entirely. This forum was soooo helpful, because I had no clue that you can really customize these packages to suit you and your needs. If you need me to, I can share the way I customized my package with my WC. Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
