Worried about this...can someone make me feel better? :(

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't be to concerned i think 7 months is still a long time. FI and I didn'tr book any hotel rates, we just set up a discount for the flight down if they chose to fly with that provider. We really couldn't keep track of everyone and everyone was coming in at a different time which made things a bit more annoying to coordinate hotel rate wise. In all honesty breathe I'm sure that you will be pleasantly surprised at your turn out(we definitely were and trust me I was flipping out at one point). Wait till the RSVPs come Im sure it will be a great wedding :).. HTH!

I honestly wouldn't be concerned at all. They still have a lot of time left to book and some people like to wait just to see if they will get a better price with last minute deals. We did not received any RSVP but 25 booked anyway. My advice... take a deep breath and enjoy the ride!

Thank you all so much for your responses, I already feel better :) I have just been freaking out lately about this. I'm trying my best to make this easy for a lot of my friends - I chose not to have a big bridal party (just my sister and my FSL), mostly because I want my close gf's to come and enjoy themselves, but also because I know how expensive it is to be in a wedding. Trust me, a lot of my friends have actually appreciated this! Plus I want the wedding to be easy, ya know? Now I just have to cross my fingers that the girls I would have asked to be bm's actually come!

I am sure people will start to book once the holidays have come and gone. My fiance and I normally go on vacation each spring, and we book around January - so I just have to be patient!

I agree with everybody!

My wedding is 8 months out...only my FI and I are booked. So I am not going to worry until it's close to April that is when I have to give the final count. I am DEF going to put "if you do not RSVP, you will not get a plated dinner." on the invitations which i will send out in January and give them the deadline to book by April 15th. I need to know how much to order for favors, OOT and etc about a month before.

Don't worry about it until it's almost time for your wedding!!

I would maybe look into getting a group rate for your guests... it could be the incentive needed to do it quicker. We would all like people to act as adults and do it themselves but as anyone knows who have planned large events...the easier/cheaper you have made it for guest to book...the more people will do so. I wish you good luck with this as this was a huge stress of mine as well!!

You posted my thoughts exactly!

We are getting married May 20, 2010, and only FI and I have deposits down as of yet. It drives me nuts 'cause I get updates from our travel agent about who inquires to her, but nobody booked yet. To top it off, two other DWs with some overlapping invitees have popped up in the last week- one a month before ours and one two weeks after!

Anyways, our STD's went out late July. As deposits for the group booking are due Nov.25, our invites will be going out in the next few weeks. I messed up the timing a bit, but I wanted potential guests to know that they need to have dpeosits down by then to take advantage of group rates. Full payment will be due Feb.1, and I will put our RSVP date down for Feb 1 too.

Just remember (I have to remind myself constantly!) that you can only do so much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
