Has anyone got their wedding dress cleaned yet?

Recommended Posts

We somewhat got in the water and the bottom of my dress is covered with stains from the sand and water, etc. You can kinda tell in my picture. Has anyone had a chance to get their dress cleaned/preserved? I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I've been checking online and see prices and heard quotes after calling from $225-$700. I was wondering what to expect to spend after a destination wedding with more than your usual wine, etc. stains. My hubby actually likes it, he thinks it added 'character' to the dress. But I don't want it to hurt the fabric.

I looked into it. I have some soot stains on my dress from our fireworks.

I was quoted $800 - to clean, not preserve. It wasn't the stains that were the problem. Aside from the obvious - it's a wedding gown and so it costs more because they can demand more - they had to remove all of the beadwork and crystals from my dress to clean it and then put them back on.

This is true of anything on your dress that might catch or snag another part of the dress.

My husband, also, likes that it's dirty. He thinks it's representative of the day. I have opted not to clean it - I'm not going to wear it for anything other than fun around the house.

My local cleaner was having a special on wedding dress cleaning, so I took advantage- had no intention of really getting my dress cleaned! It's now in a box and i haven't opened it to inspect- there was a pink stain on the front from some sort of tequila/mixed shot I did & tons of dirt on the back...I should probably open it- I guess I wasn't really much help! lol I only paid $99 for the cleaning...

The salon where I got my dress from has a special rate for brides that got their dresses there. Clean and preserve is $180.00, I'm waiting to see if I can sell my dress before I get it cleaned because I assume it's cheaper to just clean it.

Ugh! My dress is still hanging in it's bag in our garage. I don't even want to know what it would cost to clean. I am tending to agree with Natasha on this one...the bit of grass stain & dirt on the bottom and a tiny red wine stain are great character. Plus, if I get it "preserved" then I'll feel bad about putting it on whenever I get the whim.

You guys are so funny! I also opted not to have mine cleaned.

There is a black mark on the side from the fire dancers - my fault they told me to be still and I kept dancing. That and a little dirt on the bottom of the train, but I too think it adds character. Memories.....

I may even wear it at my AHR - dirty and all....hehehe

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
