Hey My name is Kim and I got engaged last month.I ve always wanted to get married abroad and we have decided on Mexico.

We dont know what time of year to go as we want it to be good weather as itll be most of my families main holiday for the year.

We are also having trouble choosing a hotel as I of course love The Royal Playa Del Carmen but its adults only and we have two children under 3yrs in our group. Any help or thoughts will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi Kim, congrats on your engagement! I'm partial to the Dreams resorts, they are all inclusive and tend to be more family oriented. I know that Dreams Cancun has an Explorer's Club for the kids during the day, maybe they all have something similar. You'll find plenty of information on this forum though, happy planning!

Welcome to the forum Kim, the Royal has a sister resort called the Gran Porto Real right across the street that allows children and is more family friendly. The WC and packages are the same and regardless of which resort you have the wedding at people from both resorts are able to attend. Also as for time of year I chose May simply because it's right in off season between spring breakers and when the rains start and it gets super humid. I believe it's pretty calm during the middle to late January as well.

Hi Kim, welcome to the forum! We chose Dreams Puerto Vallarta, which is an all-inclusive that is family-friendly for the same reasons - there will be kids coming. I've been to PV and love the city, the Malecon (boardwalk by the ocean) and the mountains. There's a lot to do besides just lounge at the resort & that was one of the deciding factors for us. When choosing a hotel I always check tripadvisor.com and Dreams had a ton of good reviews there as well as on this forum.

We also chose May b/c it's less expensive than, say, January.

I would check out the sub-forums on the different areas of Mexico and do a little research on a few areas of the country. Also think about what your/your guests priorities are. Do you want to see the Mayan ruins? Be near a town or more isolated? Hopefully that should help you figure out where you want to go. Also enlisting the help of a travel agent is always a good idea!

Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
