I had a tough time deciding which resort to choose, and I finally decided to go with Iberostar Lindo. I read a lot on here (just search Iberostar Lindo) and also on tripadvisor. Some reasons I chose the Lindo: Guests have several resorts to choose from with a variety of price ranges, and they are all located within one complex, the reviews were great on tripadvisor for families with kids of all ages (important for me b/c I really wanted my younger brothers to have a great time), reviews of the wedding coordinators are mostly positive, the resort looks beautiful, and after reading other brides reviews and seeing pictures, that helped alot. Congratulations and Good Luck with you decision!

Welcome to the forum! I was in the same boat as we were going back and forth between the two hotels! I stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach a few years back and have nothing but great things to say about it. Iberostar does such a great job entertaining their guests and making them feel welcome...plus the resort was so beautiful and well maintained. I also went on a site visit to the Barcelo back in April and it was also beautiful and stunning! Both resorts were huge complexes and gave our guests the flexibility to stay at different hotels (price ranges) depending on their needs. We ended up going with Barcelo because we really had our hearts set on having a beach ceremony. As far as I know, Iberostar only does the dinners in the restaurants, which was really not an option for us :o( This might have changed though 'cause I could've sworn I saw a some bride's pictures with a reception at some outdoors-y type of venue. I'm sure you can't really go wrong either way. Let me know if you need any information and good luck with the decision.

Thanks for the all the info and the confirmation that at least I'm going in the right direction with my decision. The only issue I'm having is the WC seem to be missing in action. I've sent like 5 emails and have gotten one response that didn't address any of my questions. Maybe there is a restraining order being filed somewhere in Mexico :)

Hi!

I am also looking for info about the Barcelo Maya Resort. It looks awesome! I am sorry but its still really early for me in the research phase so I don't have much to offer in advice yet. But I saw you were in Chicago too and thought I would reply with well wishes and let you know I will keep you posted as I go along. We are looking for an April-May 2011 date. How about you?

Glad to see someone else in Chicago! I also have a friend who is planning her wedding at Barcelo around the same time as you, and she's gotten some feedback that I can share with you.. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I think we are set on October 30th.

Have contacted the WC yet? I suggest you start doing it now, because they are very slow to respond to your questions.

I have not reached out to anyone yet due to still being in research mode. However its starting to make my brain hurt so I am sure I will just pick one soon! ha!

Oct 30th sounds like a great time! You'll get away right when it starts getting cold!

Well keep us all posted on what you decide and I am definitely interested in your buddy's Barcelo info.

Does she know yet how much rooms are in a wedding block? That is something that seems tricky to pin down, and its an important part of it all for us because we have guests on budgets.

If she has any info on that that would rock!

I'll send you what I find. So far that unofficial site for Barcelo seems pretty helpful.

cheers to the weekend!

Ok, so as far as Barcelo, I have tons of emails I can forward, so if you're interested give me your email and I will send away :)

I've been doing more research and came across Azul Sensatori. Let me tell you, it blows ever wedding package out of the water! The ceremony is amazing, and they do some beautiful private beach receptions.. My only concern is the size of the resort.. It's seems very small in comparison to Barcelo and Lindo, and I'm just afraid that guests will get bored.

It's considered a "boutique" resort, and supposedly the service and the food is impecible. Bottom line is, I'm confused..

Sorry meant to reply to this post. Like I said, I have an abundance of emails from Barcelo, Lindo and now Azul that I can forward to your email address..

The bad thing is that it seems as though the more information you have, the more confused you become!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
