The Royal in Cancun 2010 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I thought I would start a thread for those of us having our wedding at The Royal in Cancun. I know there is already a long thread for The Royal PDC, but not much info for Cancun. I haven't set my date yet but will be looking to book something within the first 2 weeks of August 2010. I'm going down for a site visit December 17-21 and can't wait! Anyone else currently planning their wedding at this resort?

Hi!

I came upon your post and am so excited. My fiance and I are thisclose in booking our summer wedding at The Royal in Cancun!

BUT before I get too excited, I have some hesitations with the wedding coordinators. I was wondering how your experience with the office has been.

I've done so much research and found that their package, resort, and prices are the most affordable & the best in town. I just wished their coordinators, which is outsourced in Michigan, was more professional.

I look forward in chatting with you and sharing our experiences!

C.

Hey JanDC! Thank God I'm not alone anymore lol. My experiences have been ok with the wedding coordinators so far. They usually get back to me within 24-48 hours via email. Usually if I email them at night, I will have a response by late afternoon/early evening the next day. I've been communicating with Kimberly, and am close to putting my deposit down myself! If you have any questions let me know, I'm sure we will be a great help to each other!

Hi, I am planning a Royal Cancun wedding for May 2011, we live in the United Kingdom so are visiting the resort next year to book everything and see the venue.

I have been dealing with the wedding sales person to get initial information -Carole. Sometimes she responds quickly and sometimes not.

Do you think I would be better getting in touch with Kimberly to organise site visit - if so, could you give me her email address?

As we are planning it from such a long distance makes me a bit anxious so be great to get any info/tips!

Hi melnickovich! yeah i felt the same way :)

We are planning July 24, 2010 at sunset. We originally began with Kimberly, she was cool to chat with but when it came to emails she would just respond in blue within my emails. About 3 weeks ago, we couldn't reach her by office phone, her direct line, or email. As if the office and she just vanished. Pretty nerve wrecking considering we liked their prices & extensive packages so we wanted to book asap.

We were giving up, decided to give them a call last Monday and to our amazement the phone answered. We asked what had happened, didn't receive an explanation so we didn't push. We are now working with Doreen. Hopefully, our nerves will diminish.

Perhaps they are overwhelmed with too many couples for next summer :)

So you mentioned visiting the resort in December, may I ask which room? For our honeymoon, we are looking to stay at the swim up suites. We will also visit the resort before July to check out the beach and times for sunset.

I also checked out the Farmer's Almanac!! The weather will be sunny for us in July & for you in August :)

Which package have you decided on? We are going with the Luxury.

my fiancee and i have decided on the royal cancun as well. i am looking at july 2010. my travel agent has been taking care of talking to the resort for me and they do take a while to get back with information. i want to have the ceremony next door at the sister hotel the gran caribe because they have a catholic chapel. i am hoping to have the reception at the royal though. i agree....the wedding packages seem to be the most affordable. i am dying to see pics of receptions/ceremonies there. good luck and congrats=)

JanDC,

When I go down in December I am actually going to stay at the Gran Caribe, because it is a little cheaper. However, I was informed that a tour will be arranged for the Royal, where we will be shown all the different room categories (as long as there is a vacant room), as well as the different sites for the reception, cocktail hour, and ceremony. I'm not sure yet if we are going to do the luxury or ultimate luxury package...it depends on how many guests we have (we are already at 35, and have about 40 more to invite) I have my heart set on a beach reception and was told that I could have one with the luxury package, which is awesome because many resorts charge extra to have it on the beach. I will also be doing a food tasting in December. I'm not sure what type of room we will stay in for the wedding, the swim up suites look great! We are definitely doing the yacht charter for us and the wedding party (included in the ultimate luxury), but there are a lot of things included that I won't need like hair/makeup (one of my BMs is my hairdresser). I think I'm going to put down my deposit this week to hold my date, so I'm excited about that!

Should the Admin consolidate this thread for the Real Royal Cancun with the thread for the Real Gran Caribe?

We aren't sure about the reception location since the guests will have a choice to stay at either, but we are staying at the Royal and are Catholic so will need to use the Chapel. I just want to make sure I don't miss any developments with other weddings that could affect us. I will just subscribe to both threads for now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
