Hi Jammy,

I'm a noob too and looking into the Banyan Tree as well. Looks like there are other threads on the Fairmont Mayakoba, but nothing on the Banyan Tree. If I find anything, I will post here. Good luck to both of us! When are you thinking of getting married? I'm thinking Dec 2010 for mine.

Hm.... lots of people... That is the problem for us too! :o)

What we're really hoping to do is book a block of rooms at the Fairmont Mayakoba, and then stay at one of the other Mayakoba resorts ourselves (a little bit of distance!) and then have the ceremony where we stay as well?

Did the Banyan Tree require a certain room block to have a wedding there, do you remember?

We're doing a site visit in a month or so, so I plan on visiting!

booking a roon block at Fairmont and for the majority and do your wedding either at Rosewood or Banyan Tree is a great solution.

Bnayan Tree is relaly nice but they are a bite new and have not done too many wedidngs yet - hopefully this year they will have a few more and they will be a bite more "traiend".

Rosewood: beautiful - we have created amazing setting on the beach ot by the lagoon

i got married at the banyan tree mayakoba on december 4, 2010.  it was the wedding of my dreams.  michele salazar (the experience concierge/wedding planner) was A MAZ ING!!!!!!  I was nervous because i booked the wedding before i'd even been there.  i'd emailed with michele a lot and spoken to her on the phone probably 3 times.  the wedding was better than i hoped and she took care of EVERYTHING.  the whole mayakoba complex is gorgeous, but the banyan tree is beyond, beyond, beyond...  feel free to message me if you have specific questions.

hi guys!

just to post a little more information to keep this thread alive, i wanted to share my experience at this hotel.  we were not married here, but after our wedding in playa del carmen, my husband and i spent a few nights at mayakoba as a mini-honeymoon and it was AMAZING.  we booked the room through jetsetter.com and got a great deal...an enormous pool villa, completely private, all to ourselves.  everything about this place is gorgeous.  looking back, if we had had a smaller group, this would have absolutely been the choice for our wedding.

the staff, service and food were all excellent!  even if you're not having your wedding here, it's a great place to consider for a few quiet days before the re-entry into real life!  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
