Anyone ever been to St. Martin/St. Maarten? How about Curacao?

We're getting married in Aruba and looking for another island that we can get to from there for our honeymoon. We're considering Curacao or St. Martin/St. Maarten. I haven't been to either of these places...any help would be greatly appreciated!

St. Maarten is ok, but it's very busy and not very serene. I would chose Anguila over St. Maarten. It's only an hour's ferry ride from St. Maarten and has the most beautiful beaches.

Here's a few pictures.

There are a ton of small hotels along Shoal Bay that would be so nice for a honeymoon.

My FI and I have been to St. Maarten/St. Martin twice for vacation. We love it!!!! There is so much to do ...so many beaches, shopping, nightlife, etc. Some parts are not very serene but they are there. That being said, Anguilla is also VERY beautiful. We just did a day trip there so didn't get to see much of the island itself but I am sure it's wonderful. The resorts also look luxurious!

In St. Maarten, we stayed at the Maho Beach hotel both times. It's not fancy by any means but it's one of the few all inclusives - which is what we were looking for. It's also got shopping, nightlife and casinos just a few steps away.

Good luck making a decision!

I've been to St Martin for my 20th anniversary and going back 3 years later this coming October. I dont know where the person was that wrote the beaches were crowded, but the only beach in St Martin we noticed had people on it was the nudist beach Orient Beach. We had a rental and drove around every day, and my favorite beach was Baie Rouge. Talk about serene. Cupecoy Beach was awesome the evening we were there.Small beach and we encountered a rouge wave that ruined my cmaeral... But... oh my gosh... the best beaches in the world. Long Baie was deserted. We had to ask a couple that just entered the beach to take our pic because no one else was there...and this is a long beach. Just a blast. Night life was good too. Plan it with a full moon...set the ambience!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
