Affirmation of our decision to have a DW!

Numerous times throughout this process I've thought - GOSH! I'm SO glad we chose to have a destination wedding!

Most recently it was because of some hearsay about my cousin. Apparently she told a family friend (who then told my mom, who told me) that she doesn't want to spend the money to come to our wedding because she expects to be engaged in the next year and THINKS I will make up an excuse not to go to her wedding. (fiance and I recently had to relocate 16 hours away for his job) At first it really annoyed me because I have NEVER given her reason to think that I wouldn't care about such a huge life event. She's never really invited me places to think that all I ever do is back out and make excuses.

Then I see on facebook that her and her boyfriend have booked a trip to Ireland. WOW, way to make me feel great. It's obviously not a money issue if they can afford that trip. BUT THEN I start thinking, THIS is exactly why we chose a destination wedding! It pretty much eliminates the people who don't give a crap about you. On our special day we will only be surrounded by family and friends who actually love and care about us. I'm so glad we chose a DW so we don't have to pay to feed and quench the thirst of people with THAT kind of attitude! Because there's no doubt she'd be there if it was convenient for her.

When these things happen we should all stay positive and look for the bright side. What's going on in your planning process that makes you think "thank god we chose to do it this way!"huh.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
