Welcome Rachel!

I just started planning our wedding in Playa too! SOOO EXCITING!

Keep in touch with me and let me know how the planning is going. You'll be there a few months before me as our date is 11/27/10 so you'll have to fill me in with all of your reviews.

Have you chosen a resort or hotel or ceremony venue yet?

Happy planning!

Emily Joy-

You are actually going to be there a few months before me, we're getting married there May 2011, but it's great to know we are in such close proximity so as to be able to share details!

We are planning a catholic wedding, so it won't be completely through the resort. We are leaning toward the church on 5th, and then staying at the Royal. I'm still trying to decide between hiring a WP from the Royal, or an outside WP such as Ajua. The fact that we are not having the wedding at the resort makes me want to go with Ajua so they would help with all the paperwork that goes along with a catholic wedding.

Do you have any specifics planned yet? I'd love to hear them!!

Congrats and happy planning!! I too am a Playa bride...was there for a site visit last month. It is such a wonderful place and so much to do. We aren't having a catholic wedding, but I did see the church on 5th it really is quaint, really is a pretty church! Happy Planning, let me know if either of you Playa brides have any questions!

I just saw pictures of the church on 5th. BEAUTIFUL!!! I would love to get married there, but I am not catholic and neither is my FI. I even thought about jumping through hoops to "convert" just so we could get married in a church like that.... but it's just too much work for us. I need to focus my time an energy on other things.

My best friend is a pastor and will be marrying us though so it will be very special no matter where our ceremony ends up being.

I would say go with Ajua or another planner that it not part of a big resort. It seems that they are more willing to be flexible, more willing to customize things to your liking, and can help you with things outside of the hotel better.

Here is my rough draft plan right now:
Staying at Shangri La Caribe. Great location, great prices, cute little pueblito hotel rooms on the beach instead of a giant palace sized resort. rates include breakfast and dinner.

tacos and coronas on the beach for a welcome party.

group trip to do a temezcal. (google this if you don't know what it is) very cool. they even do couples temezcal! YAY!

ceremony and reception at blucacao beach club. it is out of town so there is no limit on volume or when you have to stop the party (in town you have to shut down the party at 10 or 11... boo!) and an after party downtown playa. I WANT TO DANCE DOWN TOWN IN MY WEDDING DRESS!!!

It will be in autumn so I am thinking bronze, rose golds, and coppers for my colors right now.

ALL OF THIS MAY CHANGE TOMORROW THOUGH!!! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
