This is a wonderful idea. I would only add that I hope the box would never have to be opened.

Another thought I have is that you should be sure to store this in a way to ensure that the wine doesn't turn. OMG, Can you imagine having a big all-out blow up of a marriage-threatening fight, and decide to open the wine and read the love letters? You open the box only to find the wine has turned to vinegar. Well, I don't think even the best of love letters could overcome that omen.....LOL.

Here are a couple examples of the wording:

Minister: _____ and _____ have chosen as a couple to perform a Love Letter & Wine Box ceremony.

This box contains a bottle of wine, two glasses, and a love letter from each to the other. The letters describe the good qualities they find in one another, the reasons they fell in love, and their reasons for choosing to marry. The letters are sealed in individual envelopes and they have not seen what the other has written. You have created your very own "romantic" time capsule to be opened on your 5th wedding anniversary.

I recommend that you keep the box in a place of honor prominently displayed in your home as a constant reminder of your commitment to each other.

Minister: _____ and _____ should you ever find your marriage enduring insurmountable hardships, you are to as a couple, open this box, sit and drink the wine together, then separate and read the letters you wrote to one another when you were united as a couple in marriage. By reading these love letters you will reflect upon the reasons you fell in love and chose to marry each other here today.

The hope is, however, that you will never have a reason to open this box. And if this is the case, you are to open this box to share and enjoy on your 5th year wedding anniversary!

Minister: _____ and _____, you may now seal the box.

I saw this idea somewhere and I immediately told my FI and he loved it as well. His dad is making our box for us. We are doing the two bottles of wine with the letters.

Here's a different description:

Make a box with two bottles of wine & a letter from the bride and groom that cannot be opened. Nail it shut. The deal here is, if you ever forget why you were married and the love you shared you open the box, take the wine to separate rooms and read the unopened letters the you wrote on your wedding day to each other. Otherwise you save the box for your 10 year anniversary.

Well I found the perfect box. I originally went to World Market but they wanted $50.00 for a basic box - nothing EXTRA about it. Then I went to Michaels craft store and found an unfinished box for 19.99, but I had a coupon and only paid 15.99. I also bought 3 palm tree embellishments for .59 each that I spray painted metallic silver. The box also has rope handles which give it a nautical feel - perfect for a beach ceremony.

By the box being unfinished I can decorate it any way I want - YAY !!

Also, I am going to put batting on the inside bottom and sides and cover the batting with satin.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
