Are you prepared for the possibility of a last minute backing out by this friend? If that doesn't bother you, if you are not one to go totally berserk because you are short one bridesmaid, then I think you should ask her just as you planned. Your sensitivity to her situation is what good friends is all about.

Ask her but make sure she knows that she isnt under any obligation to say yes and keep repeating that lol. My best friend can't afford to come to our DW but she's coming to the AHR.

I think that you should still ask her - Im a BM now, but was uber stressed about the financial issue. I let my Bride know that I had my limits and she completely understood. I told her that I will do all I can to be there for her on her special day, but also told her to keep me in mind for any perks while booking. She is using one of my good friends as her TA and Im thinking that may have helped me out alot.

If I wasn't able to go at all - I still would have appreciated the thought of her asking me to stand beside her.

          Cheers!

A friend of mine went through the same thing. The solution was that the girl was a bridesmaid at the AHR.
