Anyone using non-traditional music?

Recommended Posts

Please share with us your non-traditional music for the first dance, processional, recessional.... everything!!!

We are trying to pick our songs and we are not so traditional. I don't want to walk down the aisle to Canon in D or anything like that, so I was hoping BDW could help out!

Depends what you consider non-traditional. I won't be using any classical music at all - I'm not completely decided yet but these are my ideas.

I don't have a bridal party so it's basically FI, then me with my parents.

FI will walk down to Hangin By A Moment from Lifehouse

I think I'd like to walk down the aisle to The Dixie Chicks "Lullaby" although it's incredibly slow. 2nd choice is Jason Mraz "I'm Yours"

Now if I get my way we would walk back to "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva or "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor"...but I'm not sure if he'll go for that, but we will probably do something extremely nontraditional like that.

First Dance will be Matt White "Best Days" - We saw him live about a week after we got engaged and stood right in front of him when he sang that song. I cry every time I hear it.

I got very excited when I saw this post because I felt like the only one!

Ok so nothing is set in stone yet but here are my ideas:

Wedding party processional - "Feeling Good" Michael Buble (my mother hates this idea)

Brides processional - "Something" The Beatles

Recessional - "I Want to Break Free" Queen

Wedding party & Bride & Groom reception entrance - "Black & Gold" Sam Sparro

First Dance "Look After You" The Fray (song gets me choked up so I'm still looking)

Like Jenny said - there are oodles of threads about this topic! Please use the search function before starting new topics - the mods like to keep things from being duplicated!

Here are a couple of the big ones!

And, I think this day & age, especially with DWs, most people don't pick the traditional "here comes the bride" music! We had Dave Matthews Band "Steady as we Go" as our first dance.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
