Jamaica Bride!

Hi,

My name is Michelle and my fiance and I are planning our wedding in Jamaica. We've only been engaged for a few days but are hoping to marrying in early April. The whole idea of planning a wedding abroad is a daunting one so any words of advice would be welcomed. We're hoping to be close to Ocho Rios. Any ideas for a venue with good service and food? Also, how long does it take to get a marriage licencehuh.gif?

Many thanks!

Michelle

A few days?? Wow, Congrats! You must still be on cloud 9!!!

It is a daunting task, for sure. I was very overwhelmed at first but feel much better now that we have chosen a resort and averything is booked.

My advice - get a Blackberry if you dont already have one! LOL

So much planning and coorisponding is done though email and my blackberry has been my lifesaver!

welcome - we ar egetting married at the Grand Lido Negril in 26 days! can't wait - I think it's been such a great experience - just do your research and make the best choice based on an educated decision and you will be fine.

I would advise make a list of the things that you would love for the resort to include for you and your guests and then go to trip advisor and read up on some possibilities

SO great to see another Jamaica Bride...and I am also getting married in beautiful Ocho Rios! We've decided on the all-inclusive Sandals Grande Ocho Rios Resort and Spa as the location that will be the best fit for us, as well as our guests -- please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I'll do my best to be of assistance.

Aside from that, you're gonna LOVE being a part of this amazing forum!!!

My best advice as you start down the road to your wedding day would be just to take your time and do lots of research before you book or buy anything (attire, flowers, you name it!) and make sure it's all that you've envisioned for your BIG DAY!

And that's where this phenomenal site comes in: BDW has proven to be invaluable in my planning, and it's comforting to know that there are other brides and grooms out there experiencing the same highs and lows during their planning process -- a friend is always just on the other side of your computer screen!

CONGRATULATIONS and Welcome to BDW...it's a wedding-planning heaven!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
