Banana Cantina - Welcome or Rehearsal Dinner Spot

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to tell you all about my welcome dinner spot, BananaCantina because I am in love with this place! I hadn't seen it before a site visit last week and I'm so happy I chose the location. It is right in the Romantic Zone near La Palapa restaurant - about a block up from the beach.

Jae, the manager, graciously showed us the restaurant even though they were closed for the summer. It is a gorgeous quaint little Contemporary Mexican place - and it is super affordable (one of the most affordable restaurants for a welcome dinner of all the ones I contacted and even nicer than a lot of them). What I loved about it the most is that we are able to have a private dinner - since the restaurant holds about 55 people.

Anyway - here is the website: Banana Cantina - A Puerto Vallarta Restaurant - and I will be sure to post a full review when I return from our wedding, but I would highly recommend this place. The pictures on the website are exactly how it looks in person and the owner and manager are so nice. They are American also- so definitely easy to talk to/email.

I don't have any good pics as it was closed up when we were there a few weeks ago. I will however take lots of pics at our welcome dinner in November, and post them then.

Not sure what you are looking for, but the ambiance is more trendy/modern. There are huge windows that open up to the outside, and it is on the second floor.

There is a video on the website that does a pretty good job of showing you the restaurant...have you watched it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
