Even if you are stopped they shouldnt give you a problem. Just let them know its for a wedding there. Also you dont have to declare anything when you are going to the resort you only declare what you are brining back. I have heard from other brides to take receipts with you when traveling just in case.

I will make sure to keep my reciepts. Thanks for the advice. I do know you cannot take organic items with you across the borders (ie. fruits, plants, flowers, sand, etc.) So just keep that in mind when buying your OOT bag items.

We had our wedding rings in the boxes (in our carry on) and the receipts with them. We had no problems what so ever, and we even had them ask to look through our luggage. We had to open our suitcases, they kinda rooted around a little, I simply told them we were getting married, and then they smiled and told us to close our bags. I think if they were more worried about customs, that the bills would have cleared up any issues in terms of us proving we are not trying to sell this stuff, but just had it for our wedding.

Good luck.

I downloaded a copy of the customs form that you fill out upon entry to Mexico, and the "Declare if you are Bringing" section specifically asks if you have "Live animals; food products; plants; flowers or fruits; chemical, pharmaceutical or biological products of agricultural use, etc..."

Did you check "YES" if you brought any of these items? If so, what happened?

I understand that "company" packaged goods are fine to bring in (I'm bringing in candy and snacks), and I'm also bringing dried flowers. To top all of that off I'm also bringing a petite professional speaker with me (also an item listed on the "Declare if you are Bringing"). Not to mention, I'm bringing other Welcome bag items and lots of wedding decorations. I have travelled all over the world and gone through customs a million times (including Tibet to China, and even accidentally brought home hash from Amsterdam cheesy.gif whoops) But I have never travelled with this much stuff that is questionable...especially to a country like Mexico.

I operate on a ask for forgiveness before permission attitude, but I'm bringing so much obviously questionable stuff, I'm afraid of getting in trouble. Thoughts? Advice?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
