We just recently sent out our STD...we did a magnet and included a pre-RSVP card. In a week we've already received a bunch back. We have actually been suprised to find some friends we thought would definitely come cannot and those who we had in our mind as maybes are actually attending.

At first I felt really odd about sending a pre-RSVP, but I just included language that said, "To get a general estimate of the number of people joining us in Aruba we kindly request that you return this postcard to us by November 1, 2009". On the forum I found cute language for the Yes and No (Yes, Save me a Beach Chair; No, I burn too easily).

We did them as postcards to cut down on postage and actually got some great comments about how cute they were. My sister even told me that she's not sending it back b/c it's too cute.

I know we won't get all the cards back, so we plan to follow up with those friends and family via email. I'm also pushing that fact that flights are cheap to book now...hopefully that gets people to respond to me.

We included preliminary RSVP postcards (with postage) in our STDs and we also have a link on our wedding website where people can RSVP (we have a note stating that it is a preliminary RSVP to get an estimated headcount for planning purposes). I also plan on emailing a reminder or two to our guests a week or two before the RSVP deadline. We've only gotten an RSVP from my parents, but it has only been a week since we sent out our STDs.

I'm not sure how many people will actually mail in the RSVP postcards though. I did a similar thing when I planned my family reunion a couple of yeas ago. It was like pulling teeth to get people to give me an answer. I ended up calling and emailing most people to find out if they were attending or not. I mean, it can't be that hard to put your name and a couple of X's on a postcard and drop it in the mail can it (especially when postage is already included)?

You may just have to keep calling and emailing your guests until you get a "yes" or "no" response from everyone.

I asked for a pre-RSVP on my STDs, which I just sent out a few weeks ago. RSVPs are just starting to roll in!

The wording I used was:

"It would really help us with our planning to get a general estimate of the number of people planning to attend our destination wedding.

Therefore, we kindly request that you complete and return this RSVP card, or RSVP online on our wedding website, at your earliest convenience.

We realize that plans may change, so this is an informal RSVP.

A more formal RSVP request will be sent later, along with a formal invitation."

I think I borrowed some of this wording from another bride, maybe MarieSam? In any case, thanks!

We also have a block of 10 rooms held at the resort at a special discounted rate that you can book now though our travel agent Sally.

Please call me if you have any questions.

Thanks Michele, I really like this and plan on doing something similar.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
