Hi everyone!

My name is Lana and I am just starting to plan my DW for April 2010 on the Riviera Maya. Unfortunately that is all I have right now and am so happy to have found this forum with such great information. I am open to any hints and tips, especially on choosing a location (which resort). The only thing I have picked out is my phototgrapher (not booked, but dreaming of...) I guess I need alot of help embarrest.gif

Congrats to everyone!

Lana

Congrats on your engagement Lana and welcome3.gif to the forum! It can seem overwhelming, so I suggest you make a list and start crossing things off! Your first task should be choosing a resort and booking the date. After that everything can start falling into place :). Now choosing the resort is easier said than done. I think its the hardest part, so I recommend that you make a separate list for this. Identify what features/services are 'must haves" for you. This will help you cross off a bunch of possible resorts off your list. Once you've narrowed it down to a select few, you can check out the threads on here and make your final decision!

Good luck and happy planning! If you need any help let us know!

Congratulations! I feel your pain. It seems like there is so much information on the internet, but not enough of what you actually need to know. I would suggest you book your photographer if you are sure about them. If they are traveling with you, you don't need an exact date and they really don't care where you are sending them. That's what I did and it was the best decision we made.

We have a very active RM forum here, so hopefully you can find what you are looking for. Good luck and let us know if you need anything!

Congrats and welcome. It takes a little to figure the forums out and which ones to subscribe to. I started out by talking to my TA and gave her a price range I wanted to pay and then she gave me a print out of hotels that I could afford. Then she gave me all the brochures from the different travel groups and I started there. Once I had narrowed down my choices to about 10 resorts, I then went on trip advisor and started narrowing down again. I did also take into consideration which resorts offered wedding as well, bc some dont. Once you have it narrowed down to a couple, then start researching info on here about those acutal resorts...otherwise you will def feel overwhelmed. It took me about 2 weeks to get my search down to 2 resorts and even now I am still not totally sure which resort I want - but I am leaning more towards one.

Be careful and read all the fine print about resorts offering free weddings, its not always as it seems.

Just rememeber to have fun and take the trip advisor reviews with a grain of salt - sometimes there are no pleasing people - no matter what. The ladies on here are great and will help you in any way they can. They have already helped me so much and Im still somewhat new!

Enjoy and congrats. If i can help you out, let me know and Ill do my best or find someone that can help you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
