My job is being hit by the recession...

I work for an external vendor company and am contracted to work at a large corporate company. There are several other external companies that work here as well. Everyone in my role was just notified the other day that starting next year only one company will be allowed to carry my role. We were told that if we would like to keep our job next year we can choose to sub-contract through the chosen company, but will have to take a pay cut with no paid time off (vacation, PT, or holidays).

So I was pretty upset about this. Yes, I would still have a job, but I'm not sure I can afford this option and might have to look for something else.

So yesterday a co-worker of mine came over to our area and starts talking to another co-worker. They are both different roles, so they're not being affected by this. I'm hoping she didn't know I was sitting on the other side of our cube, rather than that she just didn't care. She starts saying that she was just in a meeting and there were two girls in there complaining about the situation we're being put in and saying well they didn't lose their job, I don't know why they're making such a big deal about this. This really bothered me. Yeah, I know I can't complain too much because I do still have a job and I know others out there have it much worse right now. I just though that was really insensitive to say that.

Anyway, thanks for listening, I just needed to vent about that.

HANG IN THERE, CASSIE!

I think since people can't possibly know how someone else is feeling (since they are not in their shoes), then they ought to keep their insensitive little opinions to themselves! She would be singing a different tune if it were HER position that was being affected by the news....but some people are just rude and oblivious, and that's just how they are, so try not to focus on her, and rather on what your back-up plan is going to be in the meantime. Try to keep your head high and I'm pulling for you! wink.gif

People just open their mouths and don't even realize the impact of what comes out of them. My bro-in-law recently had all of his vacay days etc cut and it's not been fun for him. these girls don't know what they're talking about and need a smack!

When I lost my job people kept coming to me and saying "Oh it shouldn't have you, it should have been Jane Smith...she sucks at her job...you're so much better..." I think they thought they'd be making me feel better with that, but it actually made me feel worse that the company was keeping someone that everybody thought sucked. People don't think.

I feel for you hun... People need to keep their opinions to them selves.... Too bad someone higher up didn't hear the gossip girls and chew them out for being insentative to other people that are being affected by the changes.

I'd chew out one of my staff if I heard them doing that. don't take it personal hun...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
